Add points by double-click and delete the picked one (#288)
Four editors edit points, and all of them put a point down on a single press on the line and took one away on a double-click. A stray click added a point, and there was no way to see which point a key would hit. All four now work the same way: the Curve tab, the Vector art tab, a polygon collider in the scene view and a frame's collision outline in the Texture tab. - A double-click on a line, edge or segment puts a point there, in the Curve tab on free space too. The point is picked and stays in place. It can be dragged with the next press, as answered in the issue. - A click on a point picks it, and it is drawn filled. A double-click on a point takes nothing away any more. - Delete or Backspace takes the picked point away. Without a picked point the key removes the shape, the object or the outline as before. - A right-click on a point picks it and opens a menu with Delete point. In the Curve and Vector art tab the four point types stand below it. Alt-click stays. - A polygon keeps three corners and a curve keeps its ends. The entry is greyed out then. - The pick ends with a click beside the points, with another object, shape or frame, and after the point is gone. - editor/pointGestures.ts holds the rule as a pure function, and editor/pointMenu.ts builds the menu for all four. Decided here: - A single click on a line no longer adds anything. In Vector art it drags the shape, on a polygon it drops the pick, and in the Texture tab it makes that outline the active one and drops the pick. - In the Texture tab a click inside the frame still appends a corner, and that corner is picked. Delete takes the last corner first. To remove the whole outline, click one of its edges before. - The point the Pen put down last is picked, so Delete takes it and not the shape. - Delete hits the picked point also when the tab has lost the keyboard focus, after a click in the shape list or after the menu. - A vector shape that loses its last point is removed whole. Before, an empty shape stayed in the list. Findings: - Fixed: the new hint line in the Texture tab was cut off at the edge. The shorter text was not looked at in a picture again. - Not fixed: in the scene view the collider's name label covers a corner that sits near the centre. That was so before. Tests: - Gate: 200 files, 2967 tests (2944 + 23), exit 0 - e2e, full run: 1629 checks passed (1625 + 4), exit 0 - Smokes: 24 / 19 / 21, exit 0 - After the full run an unused parameter and a comment were tidied. For that final state the gate and e2e 42,47,53 (105 checks) ran again, the full run did not. - 23 unit tests in tests/editor/point-gestures.test.ts, for the rule and for each of the four editors - Four e2e checks with a real mouse, two in module 42 and one each in 47 and 53. The existing checks for adding and removing a point use the new gestures. - 20 unit counter-probes all fail tests, run on stein2 - Two browser counter-probes fail, the build went through both times. Without the Delete wiring the key removes the collider. Without the right-click hook the menu is missing, and that run stops in module 42, so 47 and 53 were not reached with it. - Three screenshots looked at, the picked point is filled. None of the Vector art tab. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Pick the frame's outline when adding a collider to a sprite (#218)
"Add collider" on a sprite always made a box of the sprite's size, even when the sprite's picture is a frame that has a collision outline. The outline then had to be picked by hand as "Frame collision". - newColliderProps in colliderCommands.ts is the rule as a pure function. A sprite whose picture is a frame with an outline gets a collider with shape "frame" and that frame. Anything else keeps the box of the sprite's size. - The frame is the one the sprite shows when the collider is added, also when only this placement overrides it. - Decided here, the issue says nothing about size: a frame collider is as big as its frame, so a sprite drawn bigger or smaller with the same proportions gets the collider's scale set to match. - Decided here as well: a sprite stretched out of the frame's proportions keeps the box, because an outline cannot be stretched in one direction. Tests: - Gate: 198 files, 2914 tests (2911 + 3), exit 0 - e2e 8,42: 46 checks passed (42: +1 for 42e-ii) - Three new unit tests in tests/core/collider-parts.test.ts: the frame with undo, the scale with an overridden frame, and the cases that keep the box - 42e-ii goes through the context menu: "Frame collision" with scale 2 on the sprite wearing the wedge frame, a box on a sprite without a picture - Five unit counter-probes fail, 1 to 2 tests each. They ran on stein2, not in the container. - The browser counter-probe fails 42e-ii with shape "box" - The e2e sum of 1617 is calculated (1616 + 1). Neither the full suite nor the smokes ran for this state. - Vector art has no test of its own, it takes the same branch as a whole texture. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Keep the texture tab smooth with many collision outlines (#220)
With a large sheet the texture tab stalled on every mouse move. A
profile over a pan with 1728 frames showed two causes. Half of the time
went into convexPieces, which split every outline into convex pieces
only to pick its colour. And every pointer move during a pan rebuilt
and re-tessellated the whole overlay geometry.
- TextureCanvas draws on two layers. `sheet` holds every frame except
the selected one and is rebuilt only when the zoom, the selection or
one of those frames changes. `overlay` holds the selected frame, its
handles and the rubber band of a new frame.
- Both layers are drawn without the pan. A pan only moves the
container and places the name labels again.
- SheetCanvas has a new hook `panned()`. By default it calls `redraw()`
as before, so Pixel Art and Vector Art are unchanged.
- The validity of an outline is remembered per outline and comes from
polygonProblem, with the same result. This works because the model
replaces an outline list on every change and never edits it in
place, the same as frameOutline.ts already relies on.
- The name plates stay below the outlines and the texts on top. Checked
on a screenshot: the corner handle next to a label sits on top.
- New debug hook `__gm.texture.drawInfo()` with the rebuild count, the
outline count and the screen positions of outlines and names.
Measured with a throwaway probe, 1728 frames, 120 moves, main thread
time per move, before and after in the same browser:
- Middle-click pan: 76.9 ms -> 4.7 ms (4.4 ms without frames)
- Dragging a frame: 51.7 ms -> 10.1 ms
- Wheel zoom: 52.2 ms -> 30.9 ms
- Selecting another frame: 67.6 ms -> 41.0 ms
Findings:
- Wheel zoom and selection still rebuild `sheet` once on purpose. That
stays a single hitch per notch or click on very large sheets.
Tests:
- ./check.sh: 148 files, 2214 tests, CHECK EXIT 0.
- e2e 1-16,37,39-43 on the final build: ALL PASSED, 641 checks.
- Three new checks in 42c-ii. A corner drag does not rebuild the other
frames. An undo on an unselected frame reaches the picture (1 -> 2
outlines). A pan moves outlines and names by exactly 40/25 px without
a rebuild.
- Counter-checks: a missing outline in the cache key and a pan that
does not move each fail at their check. The selected frame in the
key fails alone with 9 rebuilds during an 8-step drag.
- Check total 1333 -> 1336 (confirmed by CI at

A frame's collision outline can be generated from its pixels (#161)
Drawing an outline by hand for every frame of a sheet is slow, and the outline mostly follows the opaque part of the image anyway. The texture tab now traces it: one click, a corner budget, and every Frame collision collider and tile using that frame blocks with the result. - "Generate collision..." sits in the texture tab header and is off while the texture has no frames. - The dialog has Max points (default 8, 3 to 64), Solid from ... % alpha (default 50) and All frames of the texture. A live line says what Generate will write, and Generate stays off when nothing is solid enough. - traceCollision walks each island of solid pixels along the pixel edges, then drops the least important corners until at most N are left and no stair step remains. A slope becomes one straight edge. - An outline never crosses itself. Where the image would force that, the island's convex hull is taken instead. - Crumbs under 1 % of the frame area are dropped unless they are the only island. Holes are not reproduced. - Existing outlines are replaced. One frame or all frames is a single undo step. - TextureLibrary hands out the sheet's RGBA data, and a pure function cuts a frame's region from it. Findings: - The wedge in the e2e fixture gets 4 corners, not 3. Its tip is one pixel wide in the image, and that real edge stays while corners are still free. Tests: - ./check.sh: 131 files, 1941 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (was 130 / 1931). - 10 new unit tests in tests/core/trace-collision.test.ts, including 150 random shapes that must all be valid and within the budget. - GM_STEPS=42, freshly seeded: ALL PASSED, 20 checks (was 16). - Three counter-probes bite: no hull fallback, no stair threshold, dialog ignoring the alpha threshold. - Check sum 1202 in README is computed (1198 + 4), CI measures it. Colliders take a frame's outline and tiles have their own surface (#193)
Issue #193 asked where friction, bounciness and density of a tile live. Tiles had a fixed surface (friction 0.5, bounciness 0) and a collider could not use the outline drawn on a texture frame (#141). Both gaps are closed here. - A collider has a fifth shape "Frame collision" with a Frame row. The frame is picked like a sprite's texture and stored as the value 'frame'. - The shape is linked, not copied. Redrawing the outline in the texture tab changes every collider using that frame, in the editor and on the next play. - The frame centre sits on the collider origin, one image pixel is one unit. The shape turns, scales and mirrors like any other. - Every outline ring blocks. Each ring is split into convex parts the same way a polygon is. - Without a frame, with a whole texture or with a frame that has no outline, the collider is drawn red as a box and blocks nothing. - Move, Rapier, raycast, detection, hit test, drawing and footprint all resolve the frame. At runtime an entity looks the frame up live in the current project. - A tile has Friction and Bounciness next to Solid and One-way. The rows only show when Solid is on. Defaults and mixing rules match the collider. Density is left out because a tilemap never moves. - Tilemap cells are grouped by surface as well as by one-way angle. Ice and stone never merge into one rectangle, and every cell brings its surface to Move and Rapier. Findings: - A tile with a collision scale below 1 is no longer flush with a neighbour of another surface. It is inset there like at an open side, the same as next to one-way tiles today. - A bounce test first measured 0.84. The ball had landed on the hero at the origin, not on the tile. On the tile it measures 0.993. Tests: - ./check.sh: 130 files, 1931 tests, exit 0 (was 129 / 1917). - 14 new unit tests in tests/core/surface.test.ts. The Move tests run against the editor run and the physics system. - 3 new e2e checks: 40l (surface rows follow Solid), 42e (collider has frame size, a walker climbs the slope in the frame). - GM_STEPS=1-8,39-43 freshly seeded: ALL PASSED, 376 checks. - Three counter-probes bite: Move ignores the tile surface (2 fail), Rapier ignores it (1 fails), frame shape falls back to a box (5 fail). - Check sum 1198 is computed (1195 + 3), the full run belongs to CI. The scene view outlines a tilemap's collision only along its outer edges: where two pieces meet, their shared stretch runs once in each direction and is not drawn, so an autotile lake is one outline without cross strokes at the quarters, merged rectangles of plain tiles and one-way tiles follow the same rule, the bridges from splitting concave outlines disappear and a piece doubled on two layers is outlined once; fill and collision stay as they were, and the result is cached per tilemap and rebuilt only when its collision data changes (#173)

Collision outlines for autotiles: a frame holds several outlines (click adds a corner to the active one, Ctrl/Cmd-click starts a new one, clicking another outline makes it active, Delete removes the active outline and never the frame in collision mode), an autotile's outlines are drawn over the whole block, cut at the quarters and each cell takes the pieces of exactly the quarters its image is made of, so edges, outer corners and notches follow automatically; a tile of the block with nothing drawn blocks fully, cells of only full quarters merge back into rectangles, collision scale does not apply to an outlined autotile, and the previous format with one flat outline still loads (#141)

Physics stage 2: colliders gain the shapes capsule and polygon, a polygon keeps its corners in the property points, turns, scales and mirrors with its object and is edited in the scene view (drag a corner, click an edge to insert one, double-click to delete, at least three stay, each step one undo step), a concave polygon is split into convex parts, a self-intersecting one is drawn red and collides with nothing, Rapier gets a capsule and one convex collider per part on the same body, and Move and the editor run use our own f64 geometry for the new shapes, where on a tie between two normals the one that blocks the move least wins, so a box no longer stops at the foot of a slope (#151); first version of a collision outline per texture frame, edited in the texture tab with the new Collision toggle, which a plain tile blocks with instead of its rectangle (#141, to be reworked)
