Show a wheel step or Fit as a short zoom transition (#309)
The wheel and the Fit button used to jump to the new view. Now the view takes a short way there, 200 ms by default, everywhere the editor zooms. The zoom steps stay the same, only the change is shown. - viewTween: tweenView is the way between two views as a pure function. The scale moves by equal ratios, and the world point that sits at the same place on screen in both views stays there. After a wheel step that is the point under the pointer. - ViewTween drives it on the ticker. A surface hands it reading, writing and drawing its own view and wraps its wheel and Fit code in change(). A step during a transition starts from where that one was heading, so quick steps add up to exactly as many steps. - Anything else that moves the view ends the transition. A pan jumps to the target first, and saving a view saves the target. - Wired into FreeViewport (Scene, Container, animation preview), SheetCanvas (Texture, Curve, Pixel art, Vector art), GraphCanvas, panAndZoom (Tile board, plugin node board) and the timeline. - Menu > General settings... sets the time in ms, 0 jumps at once. It is kept in this browser like the panel sizes, not in the project, and it is not an undo step. - A document that opens still comes up framed at once. The animation preview frames a new subject itself instead of calling fit(). - The pixel art readout names the step the view is heading for. Measured in the scene view at 200 ms on melektaus-atx, where every frame of the transition is a full redraw: - 500 sprites: redraw 6.7 ms, 16 frames, mean 18 ms - 1000 sprites: redraw 13.0 ms, 9 frames, mean 27 ms - 2000 sprites: redraw 32.2 ms, 5 frames, mean 58 ms Tests: - The harness sets 0 ms on every load, so the existing modules read the step and not the way. - e2e 46i samples one wheel step at 1000 ms a frame later: zoom 1.033 between 1 and 2, the point under the pointer kept at (134, -40). It lands on the view a 0 ms jump reaches. - e2e 46 and 49 expect the new menu entry. - Gate (atx): 234 files, 3563 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (+15) - e2e 46,49 (atx): ALL PASSED, 43 checks (+3, sum 1735) - Three counter-checks fail view-tween.test.ts as expected. e2e 46i fails when the scene view does not carry its centre along. Tie two objects with a hinge, a spring, a rope or for good (#154)
Two bodies could not be connected: no door on a hinge, no lamp on
a rope, no wheel on an axle. This is the first step of the issue,
the four joints without a motor. The slider and the motors follow
in a second step under the same issue.
- Joint is a new asset type, placed as a child of the object it
holds, like a collider or a rigidbody. "Add joint…" in the
object menu makes one or places one the project has. An object
takes as many as it needs.
- Where the joint sits is the point it holds its object at. A
hinge and a fixed joint have that one point only. A spring and a
rope end at a connected anchor on the other object, counted in
that object's own units, or in the scene's without one.
- The rows follow the type: length, stiffness and damping for a
spring, length for a rope, an angle limit for a hinge. Length 0
takes the distance the two ends were placed at. The limit counts
from how the two were placed.
- The connected object is an object reference in the schema of the
type. Pasting, containers and removing treat it as they treat
every reference since #258.
- shownFor is a new schema option: a row is shown while an enum of
the same bag holds one of the named values.
- The object needs a rigidbody, its own or one further up. Without
one the joint holds nothing and the console says so once.
- A connected object without a rigidbody is a moving anchor: the
joint has a kinematic body of its own that follows it.
- A connected object destroyed while playing makes the joint let go
with a hint. Removed in the editor the reference empties, so the
joint holds on to the scene. The issue asked for "inactive" there.
- "Add joint" ties two objects while the game runs, from a joint
asset as the template. Destroy on the joint lets go, there is no
Break joint node. Destroy with keep children takes the joints
along with the object.
- The scene view draws a line from each joint to what it holds on
to and rings the held point. A selected spring or rope has a
round handle on its far end, and dragging it is one undo step.
- Joints hold in Play only. The editor run simulates nothing
(#148), and the inspector of a placed joint says so.
- Rapier counts a revolute joint's limits absolutely, not from the
start, so the placed angle is added. Measured with a probe.
- The + menu has 25 types now and no longer fits under its button
on a canvas 800 high. It scrolls there, and e2e 04 scrolls to
the last entry instead of expecting it in view.
Tests:
- Gate on melektaus-atx for this state: 218 files, 3390 tests
(3336 + 54), exit 0.
- e2e 1-16,24,39-46,51,52,57,58 on melektaus-atx: 831 checks, all
pass. Module 41 alone: 25 checks (21 + 4).
- 54 new unit tests: 40 in joints.test.ts (rope, spring, pendulum,
limit, fixed, the other end, the node, containers, paste), 6 for
the line the scene view draws, 4 catalog cases of the node. The
remaining 4 come from tests that make a case per asset type.
- Four new e2e checks in module 41: Add joint from the menu, the
rope to the hook with its line and handle, dragging the handle
with one undo, the bob hanging in Play next to one that falls.
- e2e 04, 40 and 46 count the new type in their lists.
- 21 of 22 unit counter-probes fail their tests. The other one is
equivalent: Rapier ignores removing a joint that left with its
body, the guard stays.
- Three browser counter-probes fail their checks (2, 1 and 2).
- One screenshot looked at: icon, line, handle and the rope rows.
- The e2e sum of 1691 is counted (1687 + 4, 1687 measured by CI

Say what a button without words does when the pointer rests (#209)
The top bar, the magnet, the eye and many marks of the inspector are
pictures without a caption. Whoever did not know one could only try
it. The toolkit had no hint on hover, which also forced the point
menu of #195 to be words. The answers in the issue settle the open
points: a cut tab name shows in full, shortcuts are part of the
text, the point menu stays as it is.
- Button takes a tooltip, a text or a function asked each time. It
shows on a small sign once the pointer has rested for half a
second.
- There is one sign for the page, a TooltipLayer on the overlay
above the menus. A control reports each pointer move and the
pointer leaving, the layer does the waiting.
- A press, a key, the wheel or a blur of the window takes the sign
away. initUI listens for them on the window.
- placeTooltip in ui/tooltip.ts is the rule for the place as a pure
function: under the control and flush left, flush right at the
right border, above the control at the bottom.
- toolbarTip says what the five buttons of the top bar do right now.
Undo and redo name their step from CommandStack.undoLabel and
redoLabel, as in "Undo Paint tiles (Ctrl+Z)".
- A SortableList reports its own marks with a key per mark: the eye,
the duplicate mark, the cross and the plus.
- The magnet, both fullscreen buttons, the eye of the scene tab, the
overflow of the tab strip, the plus of the assets panel, the marks
of the inspector rows and the nine anchors of the resize dialog
carry a text.
Decided here:
- Every button whose text is cut short shows the whole text, not
only a tab.
- A row action of the inspector names the one thing a click does. A
button that opens a menu says only Reset, Apply or Size from the
picture.
- A button just clicked stays quiet until the pointer has left it.
- A greyed out button shows no sign.
- The switches of the eye popup, the cross of a document tab and the
tools of pixel art have none. The tools carry words, other than
the issue assumes.
- The marks of a list say Show or Hide, Duplicate, Remove and Add,
whatever the list holds.
Found on the way:
- Signing out empties the overlay and would have destroyed a sign on
screen with it. The editor takes the tooltip away first. This has
no test of its own.
- The text hooks locate and has skip the sign, or it would answer
for the button under it.
Tests:
- Gate on melektaus-atx: 210 files, 3209 tests (3176 + 33), exit 0
- e2e 46 on melektaus-atx: 20 checks, all pass
- e2e 1-14 on melektaus-atx: 508 checks, all pass
- e2e 1-9,14,39,40,44-48: 685 pass, 2 fail, both in module 14. It
measures tabs that modules 10 to 13 open, and the chain 1-14 is
green. The cut chain was not run on the state before.
- No full run and no smokes. The sum of 1667 (1664 + 3) is reckoned,
1664 is what CI counted for

Share a link that plays the game without the editor (#266)
A project could only be played inside the editor, behind the login.
To show a game to someone else there was no way short of an account.
A release freezes the saved project under a random token and serves
it on a page that holds nothing but the game view.
- Menu -> Release... opens a dialog with the state of the release,
the link with Copy link and Open, Publish or Update release, and
Take down behind a confirmation.
- Publish saves first and refuses while anything is unsaved, like
snapshots. Updating keeps the link. Take down kills it, and a new
Publish hands out a new token.
- The link is play.html?game=<32 hex>. The page needs no session,
paints Theme.colors.background, zooms with Auto and waits for
"Click to play" so that sound and keyboard focus are allowed.
- The game always starts in the start scene. Persistent variables
are stored per link in the browser. Plugins are not loaded, and the
dialog warns about them and about a project without a scene.
- GET ?r=releases/{token} is the only route besides auth/* that works
without a login. The public answer carries the token as project.id,
so the project id stays hidden. Release files are written with 0640
and nginx does not serve them directly (measured 403).
- Starting, the frame and Load scene moved into runtime/GameRun.ts.
Play in the editor and the play page run through the same code.
- WorldViewport moved to src/viewport/ and no longer needs the
EditorState. Pointer forwarding (gamePointer.ts) and setting up
textures, fonts and sounds (projectFiles.ts) exist only once.
- Vite builds two pages. The play page loads 4 kB of its own code
plus the shared chunk (Pixi, runtime, drawing, 653 kB) and Rapier,
without the editor.
Found on the way, not fixed here: data/projects/<id>.json answers 200
without a login because the files are 0644.
Tests:
- ./check.sh: 194 files, 2808 tests, exit 0.
- tests/php/releases.test.php: 20 checks, also added to CI.
- New e2e module 60 with 10 checks, played in a browser without a
session. Module 46 counts the menu entries and was updated.
- Full e2e run: 1572 checks passed.
- Counter-checks: 3 unit, 2 PHP and 3 browser mutations all fail.

Clip the children of an object to a clip area (#260)
An inventory grid could not scroll, because nothing could cut a child off at an edge. A game also had no way to hear the mouse wheel. Both are needed for a scrolling list, a dialog text or a window with more content than room. - A new object type Clip area has width and height and turns, scales and mirrors with its parent. The size gizmo drags width and height. - Everything below a clip area, on every level, is drawn only inside its rectangle, in the Scene view as in the game. Nested areas cut to their intersection. The rule works on a convex polygon, so a turned area cuts right as well. - On click, Is hovered and On mouse wheel do not hit a cut-off part. The Scene view does not pick it either. - In the Scene view the area is a dashed frame that is grabbed only at its edge, so a click inside lands on the content. The eye under Shape hides the frame. In the game the area is invisible. - While an object below an area or one of its parents is selected, the Scene view shows the cut-off part at 30 % opacity and it can be grabbed there. The rule lives in core/properties/clip.ts. - The Properties node knows the type Clip area. - The new event node On mouse wheel fires by the rule of On click. Its delta counts in notches, positive is down, and a frame's turns arrive as one value. It also gives x and y. Limits: - Only sprites and texts show the faded rest. Tilemaps and particles are cut and can be grabbed when open, but are not shown faded. - Masks by texture shape are out, as noted in the issue. Tests: - ./check.sh: 2773 tests, CHECK EXIT 0. - Full e2e run (local): ALL PASSED, 1549 checks, measured. - tests/core/clip-areas.test.ts: 12 tests for the cut rule, scene and game, save and load, hits, the wheel with and without owner, the notch conversion and the open rule. - e2e 58, 5 checks with real mouse and wheel: the scene cuts (74 of 74 red inside, 0 outside), a click on the cut part picks nothing, the selected rest is faded and grabbable, the game cuts, one notch logs 1. - e2e 04 and 46 count the object types and the eye rows. They now include Clip area. - Counter-checks: 6 in unit tests and 3 in the browser, all fail as expected. The originals were restored and checked with cmp. Give the scene tab a header with Fit and the eye (#245)
The scene view had no header bar of its own, and its eye sat in the top bar. Switching between Scene and Game also showed two different pictures, since nothing tied the free view to the camera. - Theme.headerPadding (4) replaces Theme.padding in the top bar and in TabHeader, for the padding and for minHeight. Both bars shrink from 40 to 32 px. Nothing else uses the new value. - The new ScenePane wraps the scene view in a header bar with Fit and the visibility eye. The eye is gone from the top bar, which keeps the menu, undo and redo. - Fit with an active camera shows the world exactly as the Game tab does at its chosen step: the same zoom, and the camera centre on the same screen pixel. The rule is the pure freeViewOfCamera in viewport/view.ts, which also mirrors the letterbox snapping. - Fit without a camera frames all content on a whole step, as before. - New hook __gm.sceneHeaderAt(name). e2e 46g opens the eye there. - The doc comment above Theme.treeIndent went away in the working tree along with this. It is committed as found. Not checked: the two views only match while they have the same size. With the tilemap panel open the scene view is narrower, and Auto may pick a smaller step there. Tests: - ./check.sh: 178 files, 2575 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 - 2 new unit tests in view.test.ts: three cameras times four steps land on the same screen point as in the Game tab, Auto stays whole - e2e 3h (2 checks): a real click on Fit at Auto and at Fit, crate, camera frame and view box match in both tabs - GM_STEPS=1-3,46: ALL PASSED, 94 checks - Counter-probes: without the centre offset the unit test fails, with Fit ignoring the camera both 3h checks fail Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Let the scene view hide symbols, names and shapes per asset kind
The scene view gets crowded once a scene holds many behaviors, colliders and tilemaps. A new eye button in the topbar opens a list of all placeable asset kinds, and each row has toggles for what the scene view draws for that kind. - The popup lists all 9 placeable kinds from Behavior to Tilemap, with the columns Symbol, Name and Shape. It stays open while switching. - Sprite, Text and Tilemap draw no symbol, so their symbol toggle is greyed out. Their name toggle shows a new centred name tag, which is off by default. - Shape exists for Collider and Tilemap. A hidden collider outline is neither drawn nor clickable. A hidden tilemap shape removes the collision outlines and the paint tint, the tiles stay visible. - A hidden symbol takes no slot in the ring and draws no dashed link to its parent. A name that stays on moves to the centre of the object. - The setting lives in the project as `sceneVisibility`, not in localStorage. Older projects load with the defaults, which match the view as it was. - Switching has no undo step, like the game scale. It only changes the view. A change made during Play survives Stop. - The rules sit in `src/core/model/sceneVisibility.ts`, the popup in `src/editor/panels/SceneVisibilityPopup.ts`. Four new SVG icons. Not covered by a check: symbol off with name on for a kind with a symbol, Text and Tilemap with names, and the paint tint with shape off. Tests: - ./check.sh: 173 files, 2515 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 - e2e 46: ALL PASSED, 17 checks. 46g clicks the popup, lays a small tilemap over the crate and removes it again. - e2e 8 alone on a fresh seed: ALL PASSED, 23 checks. A red check in the partial run 2,8,46 came from the module selection. - 8 new unit tests in tests/editor/scene-visibility.test.ts. - 4 counter-probes, each fails its test: load ignores the saved value, Play skips the saved model, scene view ignores collider shape, scene view ignores tilemap shape. Let a project keep named snapshots and restore them (#231)
Autosave only keeps the latest revision. Before a risky change there
was no way to put a known good state aside and go back to it later.
The main menu now has "Snapshots..." to create, restore and delete
named copies of the open project.
- Server: SnapshotStore.php keeps each snapshot as a copy of the
project JSON under data/snapshots/<project>/ (git-ignored). Four
routes under projects/{id}/snapshots use the same owner check as the
project, so an admin also sees foreign snapshots.
- Create writes the autosave first. With unsaved edits (play with open
edits, failed save, conflict) no snapshot is made and a message says
why. The rule is the pure function in src/editor/snapshots.ts.
- An empty name falls back to the local date and time.
- Restore asks first, then keeps the current state as "Before
restoring <name>". It writes the snapshot back as a new revision and
reloads the project, so the undo list is empty. A restore can itself
be undone by restoring that snapshot.
- Deleting a project deletes its snapshots too. Images, sounds, fonts
and pixel art are content-addressed and never deleted, so a snapshot
can always reach them.
- Client: SnapshotStore and HttpSnapshotStore in src/core/store, the
SnapshotsDialog, and the flows in ProjectSession. A stale revision
(409) becomes StaleRevisionError.
- CI runs the new PHP test in the gate job next to accounts.
Not covered by e2e: the lock during play and the conflict case. Both
are unit tests only.
Tests:
- check.sh: 164 files, 2401 tests, CHECK EXIT 0.
- tests/php/snapshots.test.php: 14 checks, all passed.
- tests/editor/snapshots.test.ts: 5 tests for the time format, the
blocker rule, the routes and 409.
- New e2e module 50 on a throwaway project: create, rename, restore,
undo the restore, delete, then delete the project and get 404 on
its snapshots. 46b expects the new menu entry. e2e 46,50: 20 checks
passed. The check sum goes from 1385 to 1393 (computed).
- Counter-checks, originals restored and compared with cmp: blocker
always allowed fails 1 unit test. No sorting fails 2 PHP checks.
Restore without keeping the old state fails 50c and aborts 50d.
- The first sort test with 2 snapshots passed by chance half the time
because of random ids. It now uses 8.

Let the project set the size of scene view symbols
Pixel art projects draw at very different sizes, so the fixed 18 px icons of behaviors, containers and rigidbodies were too big in some projects and too small in others. The size now lives in the project settings and travels with the project. - New field Symbol scale in the project settings dialog, below Play starts. It takes 0.1 to 4 with two decimals and defaults to 1. - The value is stored as project.symbolScale. Older projects load with 1, and values out of range are clamped on load. - Every change is its own undo step through a project command. - The factor scales the icon size, the spacing of icons that share a spot, the label offset and the selection frame of icon-only symbols. - The footprints in bounds.ts that Fit uses stay as they were. The hit area follows the icon, so clicks match what is drawn. - uiHooks reports the icon size so e2e can measure it. The e2e sum in the README is 1375. That is 1374 plus one new check, and 1374 itself has not been confirmed by CI yet. Tests: - ./check.sh: 157 files, 2326 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (before 2320). - New tests/core/symbol-scale.test.ts with 5 tests (default, save and load, clamping, undo, icon frame), one more in project-settings.test.ts. - e2e 46f: dialog opens with 1, 0.5 plus Apply gives a 9 px icon, undo gives 18 again. Module 46: ALL PASSED, 13 checks. - Counter checks: without loading the value the save and load test fails. With the icon ignoring the factor exactly 46f fails. Both originals restored per cmp. Add roles and a user management tab for admins (#180, #179)
Until now every account could do the same, and managing accounts meant running make-user.php on the server. Accounts now carry a role, and admins get a tab in the editor to create, rename, re-role, reset and delete accounts. Both issues share the same server files, so they land in one commit. #180 Roles: - Every account is admin or user. A missing or unknown role counts as user, on the server and in the client. - auth/session and auth/login return {user, role}. - Auth::requireAdmin() answers everyone else with 403. - make-user.php takes the role as a third argument. Without it an existing account keeps its role, so a password reset from the CLI never demotes an admin. - Admins see and save other users' projects like their own. Saving keeps the original owner. #179 User management: - The account menu gets "User management" (admins only) and "Plugins" (everyone). Both open the same closable tab, accounts on top and plugins below. The fixed Plugins tab is gone. - Per account: Rename, Role, Password (no old password needed) and Delete with a confirmation. "New user..." creates one. - Each account lists its projects with an Open button. - Delete is refused while the account still owns projects. - Renaming moves the projects along and ends every session of the account. transfer takes the same lock as save. - On their own row an admin can only set the password. The last admin cannot be demoted or deleted. The server enforces both. - The account rules live in AccountRules.php and accountRules.ts as pure functions, so they are testable without a server. Findings: - At 1280 px the Delete button reached past the column edge and was not clickable. The name column is flexible now, and module 49 checks the layout. - The server lets an admin delete other users' projects, but the editor has no button for it yet. Left open in the issue. Tests: - ./check.sh: 148 files, 2214 tests, exit 0 (was 147 / 2204). - New tests/php/accounts.test.php, 51 checks, plain PHP. CI runs it as its own step in the gate job, the host has no PHP. - New e2e module 49 with 18 checks. CI creates the e2e-admin account in serve.sh. Modules 14, 38, 46 and the scaffold follow the new tab. - e2e 1-16,37,38,45,46,49: all passed, 581 checks. - Counter-checks: owner on save, admin view, default role and self delete in PHP fail 7, 5, 5 and 1 checks. Unchecked requireAdmin, a wider column and the caller as owner each fail exactly their e2e check. - Check sum 1314 -> 1333 (+1 in 38, +18 in 49), computed. Variables assets can keep their values from one run to the next (#166)
A game needs a high score or an unlocked level to survive the end of
a run. As agreed in the issue there are no save or load nodes. A
Variables asset gets a switch instead, and the existing Variables
nodes read and write the values as before.
- A "Persistent" checkbox in the Variables inspector. Toggling it is
one undo step, and absent means not persistent.
- The behavior system loads the saved values at start and writes them
after every frame that changed one, so a closed tab loses nothing.
- Values live in localStorage per project, not in the project file.
Another browser or person starts fresh.
- Play and "Run in editor" save apart, so trying a behavior in the
editor leaves the Play save alone.
- Saved values are read through the current declaration. A removed
variable drops out, a new one starts from its default, and a changed
kind is converted.
- "Clear saved values" in the inspector clears this asset in both
areas. The main menu gets "Clear saved data" for the whole project.
Clearing takes effect from the next run on.
Decisions:
- The switch covers the whole asset, not single variables. Mixing
both means two assets.
- A changed default in the inspector shows only after the save is
cleared. That is what persistent means.
Findings:
- The first e2e run died at "debug hook present" right after a Vulkan
error from Chrome. The second run passed, so it was a GPU flake at
start-up.
Tests:
- ./check.sh: 140 files, 2070 tests, exit 0 (before 138 / 2055).
- 15 new unit tests in tests/core/saved-values.test.ts and
tests/editor/saves.test.ts.
- GM_STEPS=32,46 fresh: ALL PASSED, 24 checks. Six new checks in
module 32 go through the UI. Module 46 knows the new menu entry.
- Counter-checks both fail as expected. Loading switched off: 2 unit
tests and 2 e2e checks fail. Editor run writing into the Play area:
1 e2e check fails.
- Check total 1278 (1272 measured by CI at

The undo and redo arrows read as arrows now, and the run buttons sit on the middle of the window: the first pair was a three-quarter circle with a triangle at the end of the arc, which at 16 units puts the head exactly where the arc already is - the two melt into one another and the icon reads as a comma, which is what the screenshot showed - so both are drawn as a flat head standing free beside its tail, a triangle pointing left with a tail curving away to the right and down (redo mirrored), and they were checked in the real build, not only in an SVG renderer, because ImageMagick draws these paths a good deal more kindly than Pixi does; the play/pause pair was off centre because the row has three flexible children - the two spacers around it and the notice label, which is flexible since #177 so that the bar does not overflow at 1280 px - and each takes a third of what is left, so Toolbar.layout() now moves the pair onto the middle of the bar after super.layout(), clamped between the redo edge and the start of the notice so that a narrow window pushes the pair back instead of laying two captions on top of each other; one new e2e check in 46a measures that middle against innerWidth/2 (1148 checks), and the README gained the screenshot of the editor

The topbar is icons only: the leading Project dropdown, the Scene picker and the labelled Play/Pause buttons are gone and in their place stand five icon buttons - menu, undo, redo on the left, play and pause in the middle - while Notice, the save state, fps and the Account menu keep the right side; the Play button swaps its icon for a stop square while the project runs and Pause swaps for a second play sign while it is held (Button.setIcon()), and iconSpace() drops the gap between icon and label when a button has no label, which is what kept a 24 px icon button 3 px off its own centre; the menu carries New project, Open project..., a separator and Project settings..., where the picker (src/editor/OpenProjectDialog.ts) preselects the open project and marks it "open", opens on a double click and puts Delete on the left of Cancel and Open - it closes itself before it asks whether to delete, because two modals on top of each other would have left the question standing over a list it no longer speaks about - and the settings dialog (src/editor/ProjectSettingsDialog.ts) holds the name, the "Play starts" switch (Start scene / Active scene, a preference of this browser and so no command) and the collision layers from #152, which retires CollisionLayersDialog.ts and the "Collision layers..." entry; what Apply actually writes is the pure function settingsChanges(), so renaming and the layers are each their own undo step and each drop out when nothing differs; the Scene dropdown falls away without replacement, the active scene is switched by double clicking it in the Assets panel, which is the way that was there anyway; new module 46 runs last with 9 checks (no label left in the bar, the run buttons in edit mode, the four menu entries, the picker with the open project preselected, Cancel leaving the project standing, the settings dialog on the state of the project, renaming with undo and redo through the icon buttons) and it neither opens nor deletes a project, because that would pull the project out from under every earlier module; modules 8, 18 and 35 and the harness follow the new bar, 6 unit tests cover settingsChanges and 3 the icons (#183)
