adminandClaude Opus 5.5 d9c6bbfa4d Add a node that names the render layer of an object (#305)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m14s
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 14m18s
The issue asked for Set render layer, Set sees and Render layer of. As
with #211, a probe showed that writing already works. A Properties
node of the object's type writes Render layer during a run, Inherit
included, and one of type Camera writes Sees. The next picture follows
both. As agreed, only Render layer of is built, and writing stays with
Properties.

- Render layer of is a data node with the input object and the outputs
name and number. It answers the layer that holds, so an object
without a choice of its own names its parent's.
- NodeContext.renderLayerOf answers the number with the same rule the
drawing uses (renderLayerAlong). The new field renderLayers on
GraphLookup brings the names to the node.
- hasRenderLayer in PropertySchema says which types are drawn.
- Decided here: for an object that is not drawn (a camera, a
behavior, a collider) the name is empty and the number -1, as Layer
  of does without a collider.

Changing the render layer or Sees during a run had no test so far.
Three unit tests now hold the proof from the issue.

Tests:
- Gate: 231 files, 3534 tests (3526 + 8), exit 0
- e2e 6: 149 checks passed, e2e 63: 13 checks passed (+1)
- Unit: the coin moves into the overlay with Set and back with
Inherit, a HUD container takes its sprite along, the main camera sees
a second layer once its Sees is set, and Render layer of names the
inherited layer, and none for a behavior
- Node catalog: four cases for Render layer of
- 63c3 moves a sprite onto UI in a Play run: the main camera no longer
draws it, and the log reads "UI" and "1"
- Three counter-probes fail 1, 1 and 2 tests: without inheriting in
the node, without the check for a drawn type, and without
  inheriting in the drawing
- "layer of" in the palette still finds Layer of first (6z-x)
- The e2e sum is 1731 (1730 plus 1)

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 70f3608733 Let Mouse position and Is hovered see through any camera (#304)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m19s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 16m23s
An overlay camera from #302 can stand elsewhere and zoom differently.
A HUD button only it shows lay somewhere else in the world than the
mouse of the main camera, so Is hovered never found it. Both nodes now
take a camera and see the mouse through that camera's picture.

- New input `camera` on Mouse position and Is hovered. Left open, both
read the main camera exactly as before.
- `pointerThrough` in core/properties/camera is the rule as a pure
function. It fits the camera's picture into the main one and centres
it, the same way overlayView draws it.
- The game view reports where the mouse lies on the main picture, as a
part of its width and height. The world turns that into a camera's
view, so a main camera on the move does not drag the mouse across
the HUD while the mouse stands still.
- `in view` is true only on the camera's own picture. A camera that is
not drawn (switched off, a second plain one, not a camera) never has
  the mouse on it.
- On click and Mouse button stay with the main camera, as agreed in
  the issue.

Also fixes a unit test that 1d0fa7b broke. play-settings expected 8
to be no game view scale, but the steps go up to 20 since then. It now
checks 20 as the top and 21 as no choice.

Tests:
- Unit: the rule lands on the same world point as overlayView plus
screenToWorld at four screen points for two cameras. One mouse gives
(100, 50) through the main camera and (1050, 25) through an overlay
  at (1000, 0) with zoom 2.
- e2e 63c2: the real mouse 30 units right of the picture centre hovers
the overlay's square through it, through the main camera not.
- Counter-checks: Math.max instead of Math.min in the rule, and no
check for "drawn", each fail one unit test. The view reporting the
centre of the picture always fails 63c2 with x 2000 instead of 2015.
- Gate: 231 files, 3526 tests (+6). e2e 63: 12 checks (+1), sum 1730.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 0dda6a012a Walk an object to a point, and measure distance in the world (#296)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 2m55s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 14m10s
The slime of #296 walks to three kinds of point: a spot in its home
area, home again, and the player. Each of those took about eight
nodes, and Distance measured between local positions, so it was wrong
for the player, whose sprite sits inside a container.

- New node Move toward: steps an object toward a world point by at
most speed times dt and stops exactly on it. Below a moved or turned
parent the step is turned into the axes Move counts in.
- With Collide with solids it moves the way Move does. Outputs are
arrived, the distance still left and hit.
- Distance now measures in world units, however deep each object is
  nested.

The slime itself, its state machine, the player's lives and the
change to the Break animation live in the project, not in the repo.

Tests:
- Gate on melektaus-atx: 220 files, 3442 tests (3436 + 6),
  CHECK EXIT 0.
- Six new catalog cases. Both counter-checks bite: Distance back to
local positions fails one, Move toward without the parent's axes
  fails one.
- No e2e module touches these nodes. The e2e sum stays at 1701.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 f1e3bd8378 Let a joint glide on a rail and drive it with a motor (#154)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m4s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 14m2s
Step 2 of the joints: a door that opens by itself, a lift and a
piston need a joint that slides along one line and a motor that turns
or pushes. A graph also needs to read how far such a joint stands.

- Slider: a fifth joint type on Rapier's prismatic joint. Its rail is
the joint's own x axis, so turning the joint turns the rail. Joints
now carry Scale, Rotation and Mirror like a sprite.
- Limit distance with Min and Max, in world units from where the
  object was placed.
- Motor on hinge and slider: Off, Speed or Target, with Motor speed,
Motor target and Max force (0 = no limit). Target goes there at no
more than the speed and slows down for the last stretch.
- Changing speed, target or force keeps the engine joint. Switching
the motor on or off builds it again.
- New node Joint position: value and speed of a hinge (degrees,
counting past a full round) or a slider (world units).
- Scene view draws a slider's rail dashed, with a tick at each limit.
- shownFor in the schema takes a list of choices that must all hold.

Findings, measured with a probe against Rapier 0.20:
- A prismatic joint holds both bodies at one angle. Held to the scene
or to an object without a rigidbody, the joint's own anchor body is
turned by the placed difference, so nothing jumps. Between two
rigidbodies the held one is turned to match, and the console says
  so once.
- Rapier reads no joint angle back. The position is worked out from
  the two bodies.
- A hinge motor is weak on a small body at the end of a long arm
(box 20 on an arm of 100 does not lift itself). More solver
iterations would help but cost every scene. A door of 100 x 20
reaches -90 and holds it. This is written in the wiki.

Tests:
- Unit: 16 new in joints.test.ts, 1 in joint-links, 3 catalog cases.
- e2e 41: 27 checks (25 + 2), block 41f with a real mouse in the
inspector and the motor in play (59.1 of 60 units in 1 s).
- 9 of 9 unit counter-probes fail as they should.
- Gate: 220 files, 3436 tests (3416 + 20), CHECK EXIT 0.
- e2e total 1701 is counted (1699 + 2), the full suite did not run.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 7dd3ae1131 Tie two objects with a hinge, a spring, a rope or for good (#154)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m19s
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 11m41s
Two bodies could not be connected: no door on a hinge, no lamp on
a rope, no wheel on an axle. This is the first step of the issue,
the four joints without a motor. The slider and the motors follow
in a second step under the same issue.

- Joint is a new asset type, placed as a child of the object it
holds, like a collider or a rigidbody. "Add joint…" in the
object menu makes one or places one the project has. An object
takes as many as it needs.
- Where the joint sits is the point it holds its object at. A
hinge and a fixed joint have that one point only. A spring and a
rope end at a connected anchor on the other object, counted in
that object's own units, or in the scene's without one.
- The rows follow the type: length, stiffness and damping for a
spring, length for a rope, an angle limit for a hinge. Length 0
takes the distance the two ends were placed at. The limit counts
from how the two were placed.
- The connected object is an object reference in the schema of the
type. Pasting, containers and removing treat it as they treat
  every reference since #258.
- shownFor is a new schema option: a row is shown while an enum of
the same bag holds one of the named values.
- The object needs a rigidbody, its own or one further up. Without
one the joint holds nothing and the console says so once.
- A connected object without a rigidbody is a moving anchor: the
joint has a kinematic body of its own that follows it.
- A connected object destroyed while playing makes the joint let go
with a hint. Removed in the editor the reference empties, so the
joint holds on to the scene. The issue asked for "inactive" there.
- "Add joint" ties two objects while the game runs, from a joint
asset as the template. Destroy on the joint lets go, there is no
Break joint node. Destroy with keep children takes the joints
  along with the object.
- The scene view draws a line from each joint to what it holds on
to and rings the held point. A selected spring or rope has a
round handle on its far end, and dragging it is one undo step.
- Joints hold in Play only. The editor run simulates nothing
(#148), and the inspector of a placed joint says so.
- Rapier counts a revolute joint's limits absolutely, not from the
start, so the placed angle is added. Measured with a probe.
- The + menu has 25 types now and no longer fits under its button
on a canvas 800 high. It scrolls there, and e2e 04 scrolls to
the last entry instead of expecting it in view.

Tests:
- Gate on melektaus-atx for this state: 218 files, 3390 tests
  (3336 + 54), exit 0.
- e2e 1-16,24,39-46,51,52,57,58 on melektaus-atx: 831 checks, all
  pass. Module 41 alone: 25 checks (21 + 4).
- 54 new unit tests: 40 in joints.test.ts (rope, spring, pendulum,
limit, fixed, the other end, the node, containers, paste), 6 for
the line the scene view draws, 4 catalog cases of the node. The
remaining 4 come from tests that make a case per asset type.
- Four new e2e checks in module 41: Add joint from the menu, the
rope to the hook with its line and handle, dragging the handle
with one undo, the bob hanging in Play next to one that falls.
- e2e 04, 40 and 46 count the new type in their lists.
- 21 of 22 unit counter-probes fail their tests. The other one is
equivalent: Rapier ignores removing a joint that left with its
  body, the guard stays.
- Three browser counter-probes fail their checks (2, 1 and 2).
- One screenshot looked at: icon, line, handle and the rope rows.
- The e2e sum of 1691 is counted (1687 + 4, 1687 measured by CI
on e066613). The full suite and the smokes did not run.
- Not seen in the browser: spring, hinge with limit and fixed
joint, the node Add joint, a connected object that moves, joints
inside a container, the released game. Unit tests cover them
but the last. Limits under a mirrored parent are not handled.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 46c620ae3b Give a behavior more ways in and out, and hear it as an event (#294)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 2m48s
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 13m34s
A behavior run by another one had a single flow port at its Start
and at its End, so it could not branch for its caller. And it could
not be used as an event: a call needs a pulse at its flow input,
and the events of a called graph never fire. An input like
"Confirm" (Space or Enter) had to be built again in every graph.

- A declared port of a Start or an End node can be of the kind
Flow. It sits above the values and shares their names, exec stays
reserved. Only these two nodes declare one, a struct does not.
- Run behavior shows a flow port of the Start as a further flow
input. A call arriving through it leaves the Start through the
output of that name and not through exec.
- Run behavior shows a flow port of the End as a further flow
output. The call goes on through the one the End was reached by
last, and then through exec. exec fires always, as before.
- On behavior is a new event node without a flow input. The
behavior it names runs at the node for as long as the behavior
around it runs, with all of its own events and one set of
  variables per node.
- Its outputs are those of the End. It fires once the inner pulse
is through, by the output the End was reached by last, exec only
for End.exec. A pulse that never reaches the End is not seen.
- The value ports of the Start are its inputs, read anew for each
inner pulse. The Start itself never fires there.
- It nests to any depth. Under a Run behavior it stays silent. A
behavior hearing itself, however far round, is not started and
the node says "A behavior cannot listen to itself".
- The palette offers every other behavior with an End once more as
"On <name>". A node naming one without End says so.
- An On node removed while the game runs ends its behavior with On
disable and On destroy. The sounds of the entity end only with
  the behavior placed on it.
- Renaming and deleting a declared port follows the edges at On
behavior nodes as it does at Run behavior nodes.
- The flow outputs of the Start of a behavior placed on an object
  never fire, like its exec.
- The engine prompt of the benchmark names flow ports and On
  behavior.

Tests:
- Gate on melektaus-atx right before this commit: 215 files, 3319
  tests (3278 + 41), exit 0.
- e2e 19 on melektaus-atx: 39 checks (+4), all pass. e2e
  1-6,17-24,26,36,51: 628 checks, all pass.
- 19 unit tests in flow-ports.test.ts, 19 in on-behavior.test.ts
on a real world, the rest in the node catalog.
- Four new e2e checks in module 19: a flow port declared by mouse
at the End, On Confirm in the graph, the call leaving through the
further output while playing, Enter and Space on a real keyboard.
- 19 unit counter-probes all fail their tests. One did not at first
(a removed node kept its instance), a test was added. Two browser
  counter-probes fail their checks.
- One screenshot looked at: On Confirm with exec and pressed, the
second flow pin at the calling node.
- The e2e sum of 1680 is counted (1676 + 4), the full suite and
  the smokes did not run.
- Not seen in the browser: flow inputs at the Start, nesting, the
ring, values through On behavior, the palette entry. No test
holds that the sounds of the entity go on when a heard behavior
  ends.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 b5339b96c2 Tell a graph the frame a key went down or came up
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 2m49s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 13m49s
Key is down says whether a key is held. To act once on a press, a
graph had only the events On key down and On key up. A behavior
that is called by another one and reads its input as data had to
keep the state of the last frame in a variable of its own.

- Key was pressed is true for the one frame in which the key goes
down, the frame On key down fires in. Key was released is the
same for the frame the key comes up.
- Both sit next to Key is down in the palette and have the key as
  their only setting.
- NodeContext gains wasKeyPressed and wasKeyReleased. The behavior
context answers them from justPressed and justReleased of the
input, through keyName, so a key saved as "A" meets the key "a".
- No repeat. On key down may fire again while a key stays held, a
held key is pressed once here.
- When the window loses the keyboard, every held key counts as
released in that frame, as On key up has it.
- The engine prompt of the benchmark names the two nodes.

Tests:
- Gate on melektaus-atx right before this commit: 213 files, 3278
  tests (3264 + 14), exit 0.
- e2e 18,20,43 on melektaus-atx: 57 checks, all pass.
- Ten unit tests in key-edges.test.ts on a real world, four cases
  in the node catalog.
- Eight counter-probes all fail their tests. One did not at first
(the case of the key saved on the node), a test was added.
- No e2e check of its own, the sum stays 1676. The nodes were not
looked at in the browser, neither in the palette nor with a real
  keyboard.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 3e8c88c66d Add a node that names the collision layer of an object (#211)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 2m36s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 13m16s
The issue asked for three nodes: Set layer, Set collides with and Layer
of. A probe showed that the finding behind the first two is outdated.
The Properties node of type Collider already writes both settings while
the game runs, and both collision systems see the change at once. As
agreed, only Layer of is built, and writing stays with Properties.

- Layer of is a data node with the input object and the outputs name
and number. The name is what the project calls the layer.
- NodeContext.collisionLayerOf answers the number, and the new field
collisionLayers on GraphLookup brings the names to the node.
- layerHolderOf in solids.ts says whose layer counts. An object stands
for its first collider child, a collider or tilemap for itself.
- Decided here: a collider that is switched off counts too, because
its layer is set either way.
- Decided here: without a collider the name is empty and the number
  is -1.
- The node is a read, not a run, so it answers at the moment it is
asked. Right after a Set in the same flow it names the new layer.
- The output number was not asked for. It fits the layer port of
  Properties as it is.

Changing the layer during a run had no test at all so far. Five tests
now hold it in both systems.

Tests:
- Gate: 198 files, 2929 tests (2914 + 15), exit 0
- e2e 1-6: 285 checks passed (06: +2 for block 6z-x)
- Five unit tests for the change during a run: a mover is blocked,
passes and is blocked again, a ray with a layer filter follows the
change, and a dynamic body falls through the ground in Play
- Six unit tests for Layer of, three against each system, and four
  cases in the node catalog
- 6z-x finds the node in the palette, checks its ports and logs
"Ghost" and "1" for the owner's collider in a Play run
- Two counter-probes for the change during a run fail 1 and 4 tests,
and only new ones, so those places were unguarded before
- Six counter-probes for Layer of fail 2 to 3 tests each. All eight
ran on stein2, not in the container.
- The browser counter-probe fails 6z-x with "Layer 1" and "1"
- The e2e sum of 1619 is calculated (1617 measured in CI run 276,
plus 2). Neither the full suite nor the smokes ran for this state.
- Not looked at in the browser: that the layer port of Properties
shows the same picker as the inspector.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 c1cc80bb45 Add nodes that ask whether an animation still runs (#233)
A graph could start, pause and stop an animation and hear it finish,
but it could not ask in between whether one runs or how far it is.
Two data nodes answer that now.

- Animation playing takes an object and an animation and gives
playing, progress and time left (s). It answers at the moment it is
read: right after Play animation in the same pass it says on, and in
the frame On animation finished fires it says off.
- With Animation at None it answers for the running animation started
  last on the object.
- Animation length gives the seconds of one pass, from the timeline
  and the frame rate alone.
- The rule is a pure function in src/core/model/animation.ts
(playerStatus, leadingPlayer). The nodes reach an animation's
length through a new field animation on GraphLookup.
- animationPort is exported so both nodes show the same picker as
  Play animation.

Decided in the issue: a Once (reset) counts as running while it blends
out, and progress and time left also hold for Loop and Ping-pong, at
the place of the playhead. On Ping-pong progress falls again on the
way back and time left counts to the next turn.

Decided here, the issue says nothing on it:
- A paused animation does not count as running. Progress and time
  left stand still.
- One that Stop animation fades out does not count as running, and
  its time left is 0.
- Time left of a Once (reset) includes its blend out. While it blends
out progress is 1 and time left is the rest of the fade.

Finding, not fixed: on the node the name of the chosen animation
overlaps the output label progress in the same row. That comes from
the fixed node width in NodeView and was seen in the Fit view only.

Tests:
- Gate: 198 files, 2903 tests (2891 + 12), exit 0
- e2e 1-6: 282 checks passed, 06 has +2 for block 6z-ix
- Nine unit counter-probes fail, 1 to 4 tests each
- The browser counter-probe fails 6z-ix with ["false","false"]
- e2e total 1615 is computed, not measured in a full run. The smokes
  were not run.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 0f6e628616 Check the declared type when a graph writes a typed variable (#271)
A list variable with an item type only kept its shape in the editor.
A graph could write any list into it at runtime, and the List node had
no type at all. Now the declaration decides what a write may store.

- Writing a list into a typed list variable leaves out every item that
does not have exactly the fields of the type. The rest is written and
the console names each item that was left out, like Add item does.
- The same rule holds for typed list fields inside a struct variable
and for lists inside typed items, at any depth.
- A typed struct variable refuses a struct with a field the type does
not have, and a value that is no struct. A struct with missing fields
still merges in as before, so a partial Pack keeps working.
- The check runs in the Variables node (own variables and Variables
assets) and in the Properties node when it sets a behavior variable
  of another object.
- Ports learn their declaration through GraphLookup: what a variable
declares about its type, and which behavior owns a graph. The rule
itself lives in the new src/core/graph/typedValues.ts, fitsType moved
  there from SetItem.
- The List node gets a Type setting. With a type its items are shaped
and marked, follow the struct asset, count when the type is deleted
and offer Split into fields in For each. The mark never reaches the
  running game.
- A type on a List node holding something other than structs is
  refused with a console line.
- Setting the List node back to None removes the marks, unlike a list
variable. A node list has no per-item type row, so marked items could
never be freed there. Undo brings everything back.
- tests/core/kinds.test.ts looked for the value as the first parameter
of a literal. Type now comes first on the List node, so the test
finds the value by its key.

Tests:
- Gate: 198 files, 2869 tests (2856 + 13), CHECK EXIT 0
- e2e 55: 19 checks (+55j write at runtime, +2 for 55k List node)
- e2e 54: 16 checks, smokes 24 / 19 / 21
- Five mutations, each fails between 1 and 4 tests
- e2e total 1606 is computed (1603 + 3), no full run

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 0c41cb97b1 Clip the children of an object to a clip area (#260)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m43s
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 11m7s
An inventory grid could not scroll, because nothing could cut a child
off at an edge. A game also had no way to hear the mouse wheel. Both
are needed for a scrolling list, a dialog text or a window with more
content than room.

- A new object type Clip area has width and height and turns, scales
and mirrors with its parent. The size gizmo drags width and height.
- Everything below a clip area, on every level, is drawn only inside
its rectangle, in the Scene view as in the game. Nested areas cut to
their intersection. The rule works on a convex polygon, so a turned
  area cuts right as well.
- On click, Is hovered and On mouse wheel do not hit a cut-off part.
The Scene view does not pick it either.
- In the Scene view the area is a dashed frame that is grabbed only at
its edge, so a click inside lands on the content. The eye under
Shape hides the frame. In the game the area is invisible.
- While an object below an area or one of its parents is selected, the
Scene view shows the cut-off part at 30 % opacity and it can be
grabbed there. The rule lives in core/properties/clip.ts.
- The Properties node knows the type Clip area.
- The new event node On mouse wheel fires by the rule of On click. Its
delta counts in notches, positive is down, and a frame's turns
arrive as one value. It also gives x and y.

Limits:

- Only sprites and texts show the faded rest. Tilemaps and particles
are cut and can be grabbed when open, but are not shown faded.
- Masks by texture shape are out, as noted in the issue.

Tests:

- ./check.sh: 2773 tests, CHECK EXIT 0.
- Full e2e run (local): ALL PASSED, 1549 checks, measured.
- tests/core/clip-areas.test.ts: 12 tests for the cut rule, scene and
game, save and load, hits, the wheel with and without owner, the
notch conversion and the open rule.
- e2e 58, 5 checks with real mouse and wheel: the scene cuts (74 of 74
red inside, 0 outside), a click on the cut part picks nothing, the
selected rest is faded and grabbable, the game cuts, one notch
  logs 1.
- e2e 04 and 46 count the object types and the eye rows. They now
  include Clip area.
- Counter-checks: 6 in unit tests and 3 in the browser, all fail as
expected. The originals were restored and checked with cmp.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 ef2600493f Read the pixel size of a texture in a graph (#262)
A graph had no way to know how big a picture is. An icon sprite with a
fixed size therefore stretched every icon of another size, an 8x8
pixel-art icon in a 16x16 slot was drawn twice as big.

- New data node Texture size. It takes a texture, a frame or a pixel
art and hands out width and height in pixels, 0 x 0 for none.
Wired into a sprite's width and height, the picture shows pixel for
  pixel.
- GraphLookup gets textureSize. The project answers it with the same
pictureSize rule a sprite uses to size itself.

Tests:

- ./check.sh: 2749 tests, CHECK EXIT 0.
- 2 catalog cases (a picture, no picture) and one test against a real
project: pixel-art sheet, single frame, missing texture.
- No e2e check and no counter-check for this node.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 4e6aeb5f72 Query objects in bulk and filter, count or test a list (#259)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m36s
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 10m6s
The object queries only ever returned one object: Object by name,
Child by name and Find all stop at the first hit. Getting every coin,
every child or every item that passes a test needed a For each with
its own bookkeeping. These nodes return the whole set as a list of
Object, so For each and Find can use item straight away.

- Objects by name returns every scene object with that name in scene
  order.
- Children by name returns every match below object, nearer levels
first, the same order as the singular node.
- Children returns the direct children, with recursive all of them
  level by level.
- Objects of asset returns every instance of an object asset or
container by the same rule as Is asset, spawned ones included.
- All four take a snapshot. Destroyed objects are never in it,
disabled ones are, as with the singular nodes.
- Find has a Mode setting: First, All, Any and Count. First is the
default and hides the row, so existing graphs look the same.
- Match follows the mode of its paired Find: done with items and
indices, done with any, or done with count. An unpaired Match shows
First, since the pairing only comes from the wiring.
- First and Any stop at the first hit, All and Count walk the list.
- Changing the mode drops edges at outputs the Match no longer has,
in one undo step. SetNodeParamCommand now cleans the whole graph,
but only edges that were valid before the change.
- The palette entry "filter" adds a Find set to All with its Match.

Found on the way:

- After adding the filter entry, "find" + Enter picked Filter. The
entry has node type Find, counted as an exact hit, and the tie went
to the alphabet. The search now ranks by the entry id. e2e 6z-v
  caught it.

Tests:

- ./check.sh: 188 files, 2746 tests, CHECK EXIT 0.
- find-modes.test.ts with 11 tests, 11 catalog cases for the four
nodes, the asset input guard now expects 3.
- e2e 6z-vii with 3 checks: filter from the palette, Count picked in
  the inspector drops the items edge, a run logs 2, 2, 2, 3, 4, "0, 2".
- GM_STEPS=1-6: all passed, 278 checks.
- Counter-checks fail as expected: every mode stopping early (2),
Match ignoring the mode (6), cleanup on the own node only (1), no
recursion (2), no inOrder (2), old ranking (1). In the browser a
Match ignoring the mode fails both editor checks.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 2aaca01929 Find the first matching item with a Find … Match block (#255)
Searching a list with For each needs the test result wired back into
break on the left of the loop node. The wires then run across the node
and the graph reads badly. Find … Match keeps the whole search flowing
left to right, while the test in between stays a free graph.

- Find takes exec and list and offers item and index. It sets them to
each element in turn and has no exec output of its own.
- Match reads its bool input match once per element. The first true
value continues at found with item and index of the hit. No hit or an
empty list continues at not found with an empty item and index -1.
- The pair is derived from the wiring and stored nowhere. A Match
belongs to the Find whose item or index its test is built from. Copy,
paste and undo therefore need no extra code (findBlock.ts).
- An unpaired Find or Match, two Matches on one Find and a Match fed
by two Finds show a warning on the node. At run time the flow ends at
an unpaired Find and the console says so.
- Adding Find from the palette places its Match 480 px to the right in
  the same undo step.
- The graph draws a quiet frame behind Find, Match and the nodes of the
test. Literals feeding the test from outside stay outside the frame.
- The test consists of data nodes only, like the break of For each.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 184 files, 2694 tests, CHECK EXIT 0

check fails 2, framing everything fails 1. In the browser, no frame
and no Match from the palette each fail their check.
- Check total in README: 1517.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 b90b62886b Put one item into a list, a struct staying whole, with Add item (#250)
A list could only grow through Join lists, and that takes its b apart:
a struct becomes one item per field and a list is joined. A list of
structs such as loot could not grow at all.

- Add item returns a new list with value as exactly one more item. A
struct or a list goes in whole. The list that came in is left alone,
  like with Set item.
- index -1 or unset appends. Otherwise the item goes in before that
index. An index outside the list appends, so the value is not lost.
- The rule that an item takes the kind of its slot moved out of Set item
into fitToSlot. Both nodes use it, Set item behaves as before.
- No e2e check and no browser look. The node is covered by unit tests.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 180 files, 2634 tests, CHECK EXIT 0
- 7 catalog cases, 4 cases in list-of-structs.test.ts, and index in the
  whole-number inputs of texture-kind.test.ts

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 cb8a2d029a Loop over a list and stop at the first match with For each (#249)
Finding the first item that matches took Count, Repeat, Item at and a
Branch, and the loop could not stop once it had found something. A graph
has no lambdas, so the predicate is an input that is read every round.

- For each runs body once per element, with item and index set, and
  goes on at done.
- Its break input is read anew before every round, after item is set.
Once it is true the loop ends there and that round's body does not
  run.
- done sees the matching item and index with stopped true. Without a
match it sees no item, index -1 and stopped false, the OrDefault.
- RepeatResult has optional items, stopWhen, stopped and exhausted.
GraphInterpreter.loop reads them, Repeat runs as before.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 393b8ec7f9 Build your own easing curve and use it on keys and Lerp (#247)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m44s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 10m25s
The built-in eases cover the usual shapes, but a game often wants its
own: a coin that bounces twice, a door that overshoots and settles.
A new asset type holds such a curve, and keys and the Lerp node can
pick it instead of a built-in ease.

- New asset type "curve": points like in Vector art, x is t and y is
the value. A new curve is the straight line from (0, 0) to (1, 1).
- One pure evaluation in src/core/model/curve.ts serves the timeline
preview, the running game and the Lerp node.
- The curve always has one value per t. The end points stay at t 0
and 1, points cannot pass each other, and a handle that reaches past
its neighbour is shortened along its direction. Loading a hand-edited
  file applies the same rules.
- Curve tab: click on the line to insert a point that keeps the shape,
click on free space to put one there, drag points and handles,
double-click or Delete removes, Alt-click toggles round and sharp.
Every step is one undo step.
- Presets: all 30 built-in eases plus Linear, fitted with adaptive
subdivision. Each stays within 0.4 % of the built-in ease.
- Preview: a dot runs along the curve once a second, a second dot
shows only the value. The Preview button stops it.
- Animation keys get "Curve" under Easing with a curve picker. Lerp
gets "Curve" under Ease, and its result may overshoot b.
- A missing or unpicked curve runs linear. The inspector says so, the
node shows it as a problem, and deleting a used curve warns with the
number of keys and Lerp nodes.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 180 files, 2612 tests, CHECK EXIT 0
- GM_STEPS=1-6,25,53: ALL PASSED, 309 checks
- New e2e module 53 with 13 checks, all with the real mouse. Expected
values come from its own Bezier evaluation.
- Counter-checks bite: without Bezier evaluation 4 unit tests fail,
without handle clamping 2. In the browser, a key that cannot find its
curve, a click that sets no point and a handle drag that moves the
  point all turn checks red.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 320d3e27e1 Add a Lerp node that blends from a to b with an ease (#246)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m23s
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 9m24s
Every animation in a behavior had to build its interpolation from
Subtract, Multiply and Add, once per axis. The gold pickup in
"Garden of Sacrifices" needed about 30 nodes for that alone. A single
Lerp node with an ease makes those chains one node each.

- Lerp has the inputs a (default 0), b (1) and t (0) and the output
result. It sits in the data category next to Clamp.
- The Ease setting offers Linear, In, Out and In-out, all quadratic.
The node row shows it as "Ease: Out".
- t is held in 0..1. A timer that overshoots in the last frame still
  lands exactly on b.

Tests:

- 7 new cases in the node catalog test. Without the clamp on t,
  2 of them fail.

Lerp, and picking "Out" in the inspector reaches the node and its

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 483c34bb5c Let Destroy keep the children and hand them back as a list
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m15s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 9m41s
Destroying a container used to take everything below it along. Now
Destroy can remove just the object itself and pass its direct children
on, so a behavior can keep working with what was inside.

- New input keep children (bool, default off). When on, only the
object goes. Its direct children move up to the object's parent, or
to the top level if there is none. Grandchildren stay where they are.
- New output children (object list) with the direct children that were
kept. It is empty when keep children is off.
- The children keep their place on screen. carriedTransform folds the
destroyed object's position, rotation and scale into their own, the
same as reparenting in the editor.
- Behaviors and the rigidbody of the object are always destroyed with
it and are not in the list. Moved up they would steer or simulate
  the parent.
- World remembers which children it reparented, and syncToModel writes
their new parent into the scene. A reload of the model keeps it.
- Limit, read from the code only: in the editor run the contents of a
placed container are not baked. Moved children there last for the
  run only.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 170 files, 2478 tests, CHECK EXIT 0
- e2e 34 (the module with a Destroy node): ALL PASSED, 21 checks
- world-sync: world matrix of child and grandchild unchanged under a
rotated and scaled parent, parent survives syncFromModel, top level
case, already destroyed object gives []
- destroy-keep-children: real graph Destroy(Owner) -> Log(children)
logs Lid, Label without the grandchild Nail
- 3 counter-probes, all caught: no world transform (1 test fails), no

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 7979b8ff19 Let structs and lists hold objects across behavior runs (#238)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m28s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 10m14s
An object could only live in a dedicated object variable, kept in slots
beside the variable bag. Struct fields and list items could not hold
one, so a spawned object packed into a struct or list was lost. This
replaces the slots with one mechanism for all three places.

- "No object" has one resting form everywhere: {"$object": ""}. A
running game can tell an object slot from an empty text that way.
- During play the object handle lives directly in the value, also
nested in structs and lists. objectSlots.ts and the special paths for
  Keep and Properties are gone.
- liveObjects.ts strips objects to (null) at every exit: overrides the
editor run writes back to the scene, saved values of persistent
Variables assets, live values in the inspector, and the world
snapshot of the test hooks (objects as names there).
- A destroyed object reads as (null) through isAlive, alone, in a
struct field or as a list item.
- "+ Field" and "+ Item" offer Object. The inspector and the list tab
show a fixed (null) row without input.
- Lists from Raycast all stay objects when written to a variable.
  Before they turned into names.
- A struct that only changes by an object writes no override. A list
that grows by an object writes [(null)], its length really changed.

Found on the way: CI at 98211a8 failed only in e2e 21d. #237 added
asset to the field kinds without updating that fixed expectation. 21d
now expects ...,animation,asset,object,struct.

No project on the server has object variables, so no old data is
affected.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 169 files, 2475 tests, CHECK EXIT 0.
- e2e 6, 21, 23, 32: ALL PASSED, 213 checks.
- object-variable.test.ts rewritten: variable, struct field and list
item over several frames, destroyed objects, nothing in scene, file
or save, editor run reload, Keep.
- New e2e 21d-ii adds an Object item by click. 21d and 23k updated.
- 7 counter-probes, each fails 1 to 9 tests. Originals back via cmp.
- Not tested on its own: stripping of inspector live values and the
names in the test snapshot, the "+ Field -> Object" menu by click.
- e2e check total 1407, only calculated.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 923baf2557 Let Spawn take an asset over an edge and find a child by name (#237)
An asset could only be picked as a setting on the Spawn node. It could
not be wired in, held in a variable or put into a list. Finding an
object below the own one needed a scene-wide search by name.

- "Asset" is now a kind like Animation or Sound: port, variable, list
item and a new "Asset" literal node, with its own cube icon.
- Spawn and Is asset have an `asset` input. It uses the key of the old
setting, so a saved asset reads as the value of the input and older
projects keep spawning without a migration.
- New node "Child by name" searches below an object level by level.
A child wins over a grandchild of the same name. Nothing found or no
  object gives null.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 168 files, 2453 tests, CHECK EXIT 0.
- 9 new unit tests in tests/core/asset-kind.test.ts, catalog cases for
Spawn, Is asset, Child by name and the literal.
- e2e 6z-ii (2 checks): node rows and a real drag of the literal onto
  `asset`. e2e 6: 119 checks passed. Spawn checks in 3 and 9 passed.
- Counter-checks: depth-first search fails 1, Spawn reading only the
old setting fails 3, runtime ignoring the parent fails 1.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 454d202109 Let each variable of a behavior choose whether calls keep it (#229)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m13s
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 8m46s
The first version of #229 put a Keep state switch on the Run behavior
node. The user wanted it where the variable is declared instead. Whether
a value lives on belongs to the variable, not to every call site.

- The node switch keepState is gone again. RunBehavior, CallResult and
nested.ts are back to what they were before #229.
- BehaviorAsset.keptVariables lists the kept names. It lives on the
asset and not in PropertyDef, because that is the schema of every
  inspector row.
- A variable added from now on starts with Keep on. Variables in
existing projects start with Keep off, so old projects run unchanged.
- SetVariableKeptCommand flips the switch as one undo step. Add, remove
and rename carry the list along. Loading drops names that are not
  declared.
- The interpreter keeps only the listed variables, per Run behavior
node and per object as before. The others start at their defaults.
- Local state machines in a called behavior start empty on every call
again, as before #229. Global and scene machines are unchanged.
- The inspector shows a Keep button in each variable row of a behavior.
Its state is part of the asset signature, so a click redraws the row.
Without that the button kept its old look until the inspector was
  reopened.

Found: the project Garden of Sacrifices still has keepState = true on
the call Player -> Character Movement. It is ignored now. Direction
there predates the switch, so Keep is off until set by hand.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 163 files, 2392 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (before 2388)
- tests/core/keep-state.test.ts rewritten, 15 tests
- e2e 19: ALL PASSED, 35 checks. 19c-ii now clicks the Keep button
of a new variable: on when added, off by a click, on again, off
  after undo.
- Counter-checks, each fails its own test: keep list ignored (2),
states kept (1), new variable not kept (8), rename drops the list
  (1), no Keep button (e2e 19c-ii).

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 7c70245c79 Let a nested behavior keep its variables between calls (#229)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m3s
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 8m39s
A Run behavior call started with fresh variables every time, so a
nested behavior could not count, remember or keep a local state
machine across calls. A new "Keep state" switch on the node lets the
callee resume where its last call left off. It is off by default, so
existing projects run unchanged.

- RunBehavior gets the boolean parameter keepState and its node
  description explains it.
- GraphInterpreter keeps the state in keptCalls, keyed by the call
path, the chain of Run behavior nodes. Two nodes calling the same
behavior each keep their own state.
- One interpreter exists per behavior instance, so every object gets
its own state without further code.
- Local state machines of the callee are kept like its variables.
- resumedVariables() matches kept values against today's
declarations. A new variable starts at its default, a removed one
drops out, and one whose kind changed starts over.
- The kept state lives as long as the object in the run. It is not
  written to save games.

Limit: a callee input named keepState collides with the switch. The
same already holds for the name behavior, so it is not caught.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 163 files, 2388 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (before 2377)
- 10 new unit tests in tests/core/keep-state.test.ts and 1 new
  node catalog case.
- e2e 19: ALL PASSED, 35 checks, with the new check 19c-ii for the
  checkbox, its click and undo.
- Counter probes: ignoring keepState fails 5 tests, state per
behavior instead of per node fails 1, dropping the outer path
fails 1, skipping the kind check fails 1, and without the node
  parameter the e2e check fails.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 5dbac3a8df Add a Select node that picks one of two values by a condition
Choosing between two values meant a Branch with the whole action
twice behind it, for example two Play animation nodes that differ
only in the animation. Every later change had to be made in both.
Select picks the value, so the action stays single.

- Select is a data node with the inputs condition, false and true
and the output value. It passes on "true" if the condition holds,
else "false". An unconnected condition counts as false, and an
  empty picked input gives null.
- The ports are named false and true, not a and b, so nobody has to
guess which input is which. The order false, true follows Unreal's
  Select and Blender's Switch.
- false, true and value share one type through `sharedType`, like
First not empty. With two Animation literals plugged in, value
takes their type and fits Play animation directly.
- Both inputs are always evaluated. Data nodes have no side effects,
  so that does not matter.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 160 files, 2363 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (before 2356).
- 5 cases in tests/core/node-catalog.test.ts and 2 in
  tests/core/shared-port-type.test.ts.
- Counter checks: with the inputs swapped all 5 catalog cases fail,
without sharedType exactly the type test fails.
- No e2e change, the sum stays at 1380.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 5bf1ee7a4e Let Equals match a number against a typed number like 130 (#224)
The float tolerance from the last commit never reached the case it was
built for. The inputs of Equals are of type any, and their inline field
is a text field. A typed 130 therefore arrives as the string "130", and
the tolerance only applied when both sides were real numbers. The node
fell back to comparing "129.99999999999997" with "130" as text.

- A number against a text that parses as a number now uses the same
  1e-9 rule as two numbers.
- An empty text does not count as 0.
- Two texts are still compared as text, so "1.0" and "1" stay
  different.
- Compare was not affected, its inputs are real number fields.

Tests:
- 3 new cases in node-catalog.test.ts: 129.99999999999997 vs "130"
is equal, 0 vs "" is not, "1.0" vs "1" is not.
- Counter-check: with the old rule (two real numbers only) exactly the
"130" case fails. Original restored and compared with cmp.
- ./check.sh: 156 files, 2314 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (before 2311).

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 9d6a0aebd3 Let Compare and Equals treat float noise as equal numbers
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 3m4s
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 9m47s
A graph that checks "time - late == 6" after On timer (#224) failed,
because the difference comes out as 5.999999999999972. Both values are
sums of measured frame times, and they round along different paths.
The only workaround was a Round node in front of every comparison.

- New helper nearlyEqual in values.ts. Two numbers count as equal when
  |a - b| <= 1e-9 * max(1, |a|, |b|). The tolerance grows with the
size of the values, so it holds for hours of summed dt.
- Compare uses the rule for all six operators. "<" and ">" only hold
when the values are not nearly equal, "<=" and ">=" also hold when
they are. So "==" and ">" are never true at the same time.
- Equals uses the same rule when both inputs are real numbers. Objects
still compare by identity, everything else as text. The node
  description says so.
- The tolerance is fixed, there is no parameter on the node. Physics
values come from float32 in Rapier and are not covered on purpose.
- The log display is unchanged and still prints the raw number.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 156 files, 2311 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (before 2300).
- 11 new cases in node-catalog.test.ts, including the value from the
  log against 6, growth with magnitude, 6.001 != 6 and 1e-6 > 0.
- Counter-check exact compare: exactly the 8 noise cases fail.
- Counter-check "<"/">" without the exclusion: exactly 2 cases fail.
- No e2e change, the check sum stays at 1374.

adminandClaude Opus 5.5 d444b27fae Let behaviors read and set tilemap cells while the game runs (#135)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 2m59s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 9m22s
A behavior could move sprites around but had no way to look at or
change the tilemap it was standing on. Doors, breakable blocks and
"is there ground ahead?" checks all need that.

- New nodes Tile at, Set tile, World to cell and Cell to world. The
conversion honours position, rotation, scale and mirroring of the
placed map. A small Tile literal node lets a graph compare what it
  read against a fixed tile.
- The layer is picked by name from all tilemap layers in the project
through a new field kind. "First layer" takes the map's first one.
Because layer is an input, a text can also be wired in.
- Each placement keeps only its edited cells in liveTilemap.ts,
layered over the asset's cells. A second placement of the same map
stays untouched, and the asset itself is never written.
- A read sees a Set tile from earlier in the same flow. Drawing picks
up the edit at once and neighbouring autotile edges adapt.
- Solids see the edits straight away, so a Move in the same frame
already hits the new cell. Rapier rebuilds its shapes on the next
  step.
- After Stop the map is back to what was painted. The editor run shows
the edit in the scene view while it lasts and does not touch the
  project.
- An unwired tilemap input means no map, like Get position. Cells
outside the grid are refused and done reports false.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 155 files, 2271 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (before 2245).
- tests/core/tile-access.test.ts (14), one physics test for a floor
set at runtime, catalog entries for the five nodes.
- e2e 39,40: all passed, 86 checks (before 81), five new in 40s.
- Counter-checks: collision ignoring edits fails 3 unit tests, the
solids cache missing same-tick edits fails only the "at once" test,
drawing ignoring edits fails the 2 drawing checks, the editor run
not reporting a new tile fails only its check.
- 40s uses a still tile. The animated fixture tile redraws every frame
and hid the last counter-check at first.
- Check total 1351 + 5 = 1356, computed. CI confirmed 1351 at cb32b4b.

adminandClaude Opus 5 1a3babf9c5 First not empty gets a setting for what counts as empty (#206)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 2m46s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 8m46s
The node treated 0, false and an empty text alike, which is right for a
missing behavior parameter but wrong the moment a real 0 travels through
the graph. A setting now says how much counts as empty, so the same node
works for both cases.

- The new parameter "Empty means" has three steps: "Any empty value"
(the default, the behaviour so far), "Nothing there (0 and false
count)" and "Only a missing value".
- The default keeps every existing graph as it is, including the common
setup where an unset animation parameter arrives as an empty text.
- The rule lives in isEmptyValue(value, mode) in values.ts; the node only
passes the step through. An unknown setting behaves like the default,
  the same way Compare does.
- The node description is shorter because the old one was cut off in the
  inspector.

Findings:

- In the "Nothing there" step a struct is empty only when its fields are
empty under the same step, so a position (0, 0) stays a real value.

Tests:

- ./check.sh: 142 files, 2113 tests, exit 0 (before 2104).
- 9 new cases in the node catalog table: the edge cases per step (0,
false, empty text, empty list, position (0, 0), unconnected a) plus an
  unknown setting.
- Two counterproofs hold: letting "Nothing there" act like "Any" drops
the 3 cases with 0, false and the position; removing the "Only a
missing value" step drops the 2 cases with the empty text and list.
- Seen in the browser: the node shows "Empty means: Any empty value" and
the inspector dropdown lists all three steps.

adminandClaude Opus 5 d98c2898b1 A new node takes the first of two values that is not empty (#205)
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 2m46s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 8m38s
A graph that reads an optional value needed a chain of Equals and
Branch just to fall back on a default. The new node does that in one
step: it passes a through unless a is empty, in which case b comes
out. Both ports are any, so it works for numbers, text, lists,
structs and objects alike.

- `First not empty` sits in the data category with two any inputs
`a` and `b` and one any output `value`. Are both empty, b comes
out, so the second input doubles as the default.
- `isEmptyValue` in values.ts holds the rule as a pure function:
nothing connected, 0, an empty text, false, an empty list, and a
struct whose fields are all empty.
- The struct case is what covers a position: behavior graphs have no
vector type of their own, so (0, 0) arrives as a struct. `{x: 0,
  y: 2}` therefore counts as set, `{x: 0, y: 0}` as empty.

Findings:

- A real 0 or false on a is passed over. That follows from counting
0 as empty and is written down in the issue.
- The output stays any. Ports that inherit their type from an input
do not exist in the graph; `Item at` has the same shape.

Tests:

- ./check.sh: 142 files, 2104 tests, exit 0 (was 2094).
- 10 new catalog cases: a set, a unconnected, 0, "", false, an empty
list, a position (0, 0), a struct with one field set, an object,
  and both empty.
- Counter-check: with structs never empty and 0 a real value exactly
those two cases fail, the rest stays green. Originals restored and
  compared with cmp, then rebuilt.
- No e2e check: single data nodes have no e2e coverage here, the
  palette fills itself from BUILT_IN_NODES.

game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 2m11s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 7m48s
Until now only the editor toolbar could pause a running game. A pause
menu inside the game had no way to stop the world while its own graph
kept running, and there was no slow motion.

- Five new nodes: Pause game, Resume game, Is game paused, Set time
scale and Time scale. Pause and resume take effect on the next frame.
- A game pause stops world time, physics, animations, particles and
shader time. Only behaviors with the new "Run while paused" switch
  keep running.
- Set time scale 0 freezes the world but graphs keep running, as
  agreed in the issue.
- Play and Stop reset the time scale to 1, Load scene keeps it. The
pause belongs to the scene, so Load scene and Restart unpause.
- The toolbar pause stays separate and also freezes the menu. When the
game pauses itself the status line reads "The game paused itself".
- While paused, collision events are not reported, sounds keep
playing, and the editor run ignores both nodes with a log line.

Findings:
- The first status line was longer than any before and got cut with
an ellipsis. It is shorter now.
- The e2e harness did not know the key "p". It does now.

Tests:
- ./check.sh: 133 files, 1968 tests, exit 0 (before 132 / 1952)
- npm run build: exit 0
- GM_STEPS=18 fresh: ALL PASSED, 33 checks (before 26)
- 16 new unit tests: 8 catalog cases, game-pause.test.ts, editor run
- 7 new e2e checks in block 18i, driven by real keys in the game
- Six counter-checks all bite: behavior filter, collision lock, world

Part (a) of the animation rework: model, commands, saving, runtime and nodes.

- AnimationAsset holds a root (sprite, text, container or scene) and rows; a row keys one
property of the root or of an object inside it, keys sit on whole frames.
- The last key decides the length (its frame counts as a frame of its own). The playhead runs
between frames, so numbers and colors blend every tick even at 10 fps; everything else holds.
- Playback gains `once-reset`, which puts back what was there before the start. A row can be
relative, adding to where its target stood.
- Play / Pause / Stop animation act on an object; each instance plays on its own, the later
start wins on a shared property, and a behavior writing the same property still writes last.
- A sprite no longer wears an animation through `texture`. "Create animation from texture"
builds a sprite plus a texture row keyed frame by frame instead.
- The Animation tab shows a placeholder until the timeline editor (part b) lands.

adminandClaude Opus 5 1135205d69 A machine that arrives as a value can still be commanded, so a name may name its state (#58)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 6m12s
Set state and State branch derived their ports from the graph, so a machine
that came out of a variable or a list had no ports at all: nothing to set,
nowhere to branch. It could be passed around but not operated.

stateByName() resolves id first, then name; a name two states carry answers
with nothing, the same rule transitionTo already follows for two transitions
of one name — without something in the graph that decides between them, any
pick would be a guess.

Set state by name takes the machine and a text, and has a second exec output
not found, so a typo is not swallowed in silence. State branch gains a
derived else that fires whenever no state output matches — no state set, a
state of another machine, or a machine that arrives as a value and therefore
has no state outputs at all. A flow that enters State branch now always
leaves it somewhere.

admin 1e9d21cd5d A game that is more than one scene needs a way from one to the next, so the graph can load one (#39)
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 11m6s
Load scene sets a flag on the World like Stop and Restart do; the swap
happens after the tick, and the last wish of a tick wins. Exactly one
thing crosses over: the SharedState, so global variables and global
machines keep what they know while everything local is built anew.
Loading the scene that is already running rebuilds it, which is what
"reset the level" means when the score must survive.

A run starts either from the start scene (a new project field, set from
the asset panel and marked with an arrow in the list) or from whatever
scene is open. The toggle next to Play says which question is asked and
remembers the answer in localStorage: it is a way of working, not part
of the game.

Sounds no longer end because a scene ends. A voice belongs to the
behavior that started it and stops right after On destroy, so the scene
swap is no longer a special case at all. For the enemy that plays its
explosion and destroys itself in the same breath there is now a
detached input on Play sound.

The scene selector stays usable while a run plays, because a double
click in the asset panel already did the same thing unguarded. It moves
what the editor looks at, not what the run plays.

admin 5671a38044 A game that stays silent is only half a game, so a sound is an asset like any other (#45)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 12m1s
Sounds follow the road fonts already paved: the file goes to the server
content-addressed under its sha256, the project keeps a named asset that
points at it, and nothing is ever re-encoded. The format is read from the
file's own signature, not from what the browser claims - the same .m4a
arrives as audio/mp4, audio/x-m4a or as nothing at all.

Playing is two nodes. "Play sound" takes the asset and may raise or lower
its volume; every call is its own voice, so two jumps in a row are two
jumps heard. Its loop input is a choice of three - from the asset, on,
off - because a checkbox has to spend one of its two positions on "not
set" and would lose a case: an asset that loops could then never be
played once.

Below the graph core stays browser-free: NodeContext hands out an asset
id, BehaviorSystem resolves it against the project and folds the asset's
own volume and loop into the call, and only viewport/SoundLibrary knows
about Web Audio. A run without a sink plays nothing instead of throwing.

The CI browser is muted, so the ear is no witness: the debug hook counts
started and stopped voices, and step 34 reads that counter.

adminandClaude Opus 5 7babf88636 A state change is something the graph can react to, so the machine announces it (#53, #54, #55, #57)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 10m58s
Four issues that all reach for the same line: how the current state is
read and written. Splitting them into four commits would mean four
states of the tree that do not compile, so they arrive together.

#55 start state — the machine asset carries an optional `start` holding
a State node's id. Right-click a state to set or remove it, a ring in
the node's title says which one it is. A dead id (the state was deleted)
reads as "no start", so nothing has to clean up after a deletion.

#53 entered/exited — `On state entered` and `On state exited`, one exec
output per state. Every change now goes through a single `setState`
that reports it; BehaviorSystem delivers it after the exec flow that
caused it, `exited` of the old before `entered` of the new, round after
round until the queue is empty, with a cap that stops a ping-pong graph
with an endless-loop error. A local machine tells the instance that
switched, a global one tells every instance holding a matching event
node. The start state fires `entered` too: per instance for a local
machine, once per run for a global one.

#57 reading — `Current state` with `name` for showing and `id` for
comparing, `Is in state` with one boolean per state. Neither has a
`run`, so `read` learned `def` and `lookup`, and the catalog test knows
this third kind of node.

#54 seeing it — during a run the state machine tab marks every state
some instance is holding faintly, and the one held by the selected
scene object's instance strongly.

rootandClaude Opus 5 68c92daaa6 A transition carries a name, so a state needs no visible port (#52)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 10m22s
A state keeps its `in`/`out` exec pins in the model and the editor never draws
them. That is the whole trick: connecting, undo, deleting a state and saving all
keep working untouched, because `normalizeGraph` filters nodes and never edges,
and no edge ever checks its port key against a NodeDef. Only two places change --
`NodeView.redraw` stops drawing the row, and `portAt` refuses to hand one out, so
an invisible pin cannot be grabbed either.

Transitions are drawn by right-clicking a state, `Make transition`, then clicking
the target. The armed mode takes the same shape as a live drag, so the existing
preview draws it with no second code path, and it dies with Escape, a click on
empty canvas or a switch to another asset.

Removing the pins removed the only handle a transition had: edges have no
hit-test anywhere, and the pin right-click was the sole route to Disconnect.
The inspector's TRANSITIONS OUT / TRANSITIONS IN lists are therefore not a
convenience, they are the delete path.

`GraphEdge` gained an optional `label`, which `normalizeGraph` has to pass
through explicitly or a saved name is dropped on load. `State transition`
replaces `Next state`: it takes the machine on an input port and the name from a
picker, and resolves against the *current* state. Names are deliberately not
unique across a machine -- two states may both have an `alarm` -- so a node named
`alarm` moves whichever state has one, and an empty name follows the single
unnamed edge.

The geometry moved to a Pixi-free `transitions.ts`: a gap to the box border, and
a fan that puts a pair of opposite edges beside each other instead of on top of
each other. Keeping it as plain maths is what let a screenshot bug become a unit
test -- an earlier pin-to-pin line ran under the target node and took its
arrowhead with it, because `nodeLayer` sits above `edgeLayer`.

One limit stands and is not fixed here: `ConnectCommand` rejects a second edge
between the same two states ("Already connected"), because every transition
hangs off the same two ports. With names, `A --alarm--> B` beside
`A --seen--> B` is a sensible pair, so this is worth its own issue.

The asset type `particles` is placeable and carries a graph at the same time —
`behavior` was the blueprint. Because a continuous emitter gives birth to particle n
at time n/rate, the whole field is a function of the clock rather than of the frames:
no ring-buffer bookkeeping, exact time jumps, reproducibility as a measurable property.

compile.ts follows compileShader's frame but emits JS closures into a Float64Array
instead of GLSL, and without eval; a node with two consumers is evaluated once.
Drawing is one Pixi ParticleContainer per source, so one draw call.

Collision, wind and braking in flight are out for good — that is the price of the
formula model, not an omission.

The tab count goes from nine to ten, which is exactly the case #84 was built for one

hidden.length > 0 instead of === 0.

rootandClaude Fable 5.1 e7d82bd1a9 State machines: asset, tab, State branch and Set state nodes (#51)
A state machine is an asset whose graph holds one `State` node per state
(no ports, name as title), edited in a new "State machine" tab that reuses
the graph canvas: right-click places "State n", snap toggle shared with the
Behavior tab via SnapToggle. `statemachine` is a value kind like texture
(port, literal node, variable, struct field, tagged list item).

Behaviors use it through `State branch` (one exec output per state) and
`Set state` (one exec input per state; the interpreter now hands `run` the
entry port). States live per behavior instance in NodeContext.states, with
no initial state. Ports derive from the inline picker or a wired
`State machine` literal; BehaviorLookup became GraphLookup with
behavior(id) and machine(id).

The Graph tab is labelled "Behavior" (key unchanged). Unit tests
(state-machine, kinds, catalog, ports), e2e step 26 and README added.

step numbers in tools/e2e/11-…23- from the old global count.
- README: asset types include `animation`, kind order Number/Text/Boolean, tagged colour
and texture items, 6/5 kinds, the `Texture` node, `./build.sh`, PROJECT_FORMAT_VERSION,
  and the file tree (kinds.ts, listItems.ts, propertyPorts.ts, Breadcrumb.ts, beads.ts,
  tools/assets/).
- tests/helpers.ts takes the duplicated `findObject` and `sceneWithCamera`.

Proof: ./check.sh 797 tests, full e2e ALL PASSED 633 checks against this bundle.

rootandClaude Fable 5.1 8a7185948d Make texture and colour full kinds and drop the load-time migrations
- `Texture` and `Color` can be picked as a variable kind, a struct field
kind and a declared port kind; a new `Texture` node hands a picture id
into the graph. Declared, a texture is its bare id – the `$texture` tag
  stays a list-only thing.
- The `String` node is labelled "Text" like its kind; the type id stays.
- Whole-number inputs (`Item at`, `Set item`, `Sub list`, `Fill`,
  `Repeat`, `Substring`, `To text`) show no decimals (`int()` in shared.ts).
- All server projects are reseeded, so `legacyNodes.ts`,
`migrateDeclaredLists` and the `ownerId` fallback go, with their tests.
- Note `reseed-because-of-list` moved to done/; new note `refactor-types`.

rootandClaude Opus 5 1135bf4562 Play sprite animations from an animation asset worn through texture
An animation asset is a list of pictures (whole textures or frames) with
frames per second and Loop/Once/Ping-pong playback. A sprite wears it
through its texture property, so the picker, instance overrides and the
Properties node work unchanged; there is no dedicated play node.

A different animation starts from its first frame, the same one set again
runs on, so a graph may choose Run or Idle every frame. The clock lives on
the entity, not in props, which the world writes back as overrides. The
AnimationSystem ticks before behaviors, and On animation finished fires
once when a Once animation reaches its end.

The Animation tab plays a preview above a frame strip: reorder by dragging,
Delete, duplicate, + Frames, pause/resume, and wheel zoom about the pointer
with pan and Fit. Scene and Container tabs show the first frame; edit mode
has no clock. Right-clicking a texture creates an animation from its frames.

Button now measures its label with the bold font it draws in, which cut
the Animation tab and red dialog buttons short.

rootandClaude Opus 5 495756b500 Remove exports and methods nothing uses any more
A reference search over every export and method in src/ found code that
only tests still called, or that was never called at all:

- RemoveSceneObjectCommand: the product only removes through the
multi-object command; the tests now use that one too.
- NodeRegistry.requireNodeDef: a second function of the same name in
commands/require.ts raises a CommandError instead of throwing, and is
the one the product uses. The twin invited the wrong import.
- isTextureAsset, listContainers, AssetTabEditor.show,
  FocusManager.destroy, KeyboardBridge.selectAll and the getters
  ColorField.value, ListView.selected, NumberField.number.

Also: Theme.controlActive now matches the resting control colour, and a
new note asks what editing the graph during play would take.

rootandClaude Opus 5 58f19a3451 Replace the property nodes with one Properties node
Get/Set property, Get/Set properties, Set enabled and Set text are gone.
A single Properties node takes a fixed "object" input; every chosen
property is an output that reads the current value, and one switched to
Set is also an input written when the flow arrives. Exec pins only exist
while at least one entry writes.

The node carries a type (Sprite, Text, Collider, Camera, Container,
Behavior, Any) that decides what "+ Property" offers: the fields of that
type, the variables of the chosen behavior, or for Any a kind to pick
and a name to type. Each port takes the default and field of its type,
so a Camera width starts at 640. Switching the type keeps the ports and
marks those the new type lacks. At runtime the type is only an editor
aid; the node writes to whatever object it gets.

Old project files are converted on load. The type is inferred from the
keys: the first object type that has them all, else the one behavior
that declares them all, else Any. enabled belongs to every object, so a
converted Set enabled lands on Any.

The jump-run and tetris seeders use Properties throughout; draw-piece
switches its cell on in the same node that sets the colour.

rootandClaude Opus 5 7c63c884ef Replace the five variable nodes with one Variables node
A single node now lists any number of variables. Every entry is an output
that reads the current value whenever it is pulled; an entry switched to
Set is also an input and is written when the flow arrives. Exec pins only
exist while at least one entry writes, and all inputs are read before any
write, so one node can swap two variables.

Get/Set variable, Get/Set variables and Variable are gone. Old project
files are converted on load: each old node becomes a Variables node with
the same variables, edges and typed values.

A written port without a typed value now shows the zero of its kind on
the node body, matching what the inspector shows and what the run writes.
