What it does
The wheel on free space in the EQ tab zooms the dB axis in fixed steps, always the same either side of 0: ±3, ±6, ±12, ±24 (the old view) and ±48 dB. Up zooms in.
The grid follows the range: a line every 1, 2, 3, 6 or 12 dB.
A handle whose gain lies beyond the range stays on the edge, in sight and in reach.
The range is saved on the node as range. Like the game scale (#226) it is no undo step: Ctrl+Z undoes edits, not a look at the curve.
The node's small curve (#375) shows the same range as the tab. The spectrum (#374) keeps its own scale, and the sound does not change.
A change to what was there
The wheel used to turn the Q anywhere while a band was picked. Now it does so only over a handle, otherwise the zoom would hardly be reachable (after opening, a band is nearly always picked). The hint below the curve reads "Wheel: Q on a band, else zoom".
Tests
Unit parametric-eq: 16 green, 5 new. Counter-check: the node's picture without the saved range turns the new test red.
e2e 34 (melektaus-atx): ALL PASSED, 99 checks, 1 new, twice. The new check: wheel up on free space gives ±12 dB, also saved on the node. The handle at -6 dB moves from y 301 to 339, the Q stays. Ctrl+Z afterwards takes back the Q, the zoom stays.
Looked at: at ±12 dB the grid runs from +9 to -9 and the handle sits on the -6 line; the longer hint fits. In the node the dip is about twice as deep as before.
Not checked
A real reload in the browser. That the zoom is kept is shown only by the unit test over save and load.
A trackpad: each wheel event is one step, so a trackpad may jump through the steps quickly.
The zoom in play mode.
