adminandClaude Opus 5 1c212b1ccc Scene view symbols come from SVG files: the behavior, container, rigidbody, camera and particles icons live in src/viewport/icons/ and are changed by editing the file and running npm run build; they are bundled, parsed once and drawn into a Graphics by the new module symbolIcons.ts, currentColor becomes the theme color of the symbol, the origin sits in the middle with a centered viewBox and the same units as before, so the symbols are pixel for pixel unchanged; what depends on the object (camera frame, collider outline, one-way cone) stays in code; unit tests keep the files to what Pixi's SVG parser and a browser draw alike (no transform, no polygon, fill always given), e2e 5c reads the five symbols in the theme color (#175)

adminandClaude Opus 5 25ec7879a0 Several transitions between the same pair of states: make transition onto a state that is already connected in that direction adds another transition, which gets its own name right away (Transition 2, Transition 3, skipping names that already leave the state), so two unnamed transitions between one pair never exist; renaming is refused when another transition between the same pair in the same direction already carries the name, the empty name included, while equal names to other targets are only warned about as before; the behavior graph keeps Already connected; self transitions may repeat too, each further loop drawn as a ring around the previous one with the preview showing the next ring, and transition labels that would cover another one slide along their own edge until they are free (pure function freeLabelSpot); test hook transitionLabelAt also returns width and height, e2e 26e6 (#162)

adminandClaude Opus 5 010b6a7f6c A state can transition to itself: make transition and a second click on the same state connects a self transition, taking it fires On state exited and then On state entered every time, for local and global machines, while Set state into the current state stays silent as before; only states may connect to themselves, every other node is still refused, one self transition per state; the loop is drawn over the middle of the top edge with its arrow pointing down and its name at the apex, the preview already shows it while armed, and the inspector lists it once under Transitions out; new test hook transitionLabelAt, e2e 26e5 (#163)

adminandClaude Opus 5 cc285af10a Tabs are open documents: Scene, Game and Plugins stay as fixed tabs, every other asset opens in its own tab (double click or Enter in the asset panel, on creation, from the list button), several assets of one kind can be open at once, a tab is labelled with its kind dimmed before the name, cut at 160 px and renamed with its asset, closes with its x or a middle click and goes away when its asset is deleted; a tab always shows its own document instead of following the selection, the picker in the tab head is gone, zoom and scroll are kept per document for the session and dropped on close, a double click on a call node stays in the same tab with breadcrumbs per tab; one editor per kind is switched between documents, the placement rules live in the pure module documents.ts, and the test hook showTab stays as a compatibility path; new e2e module 44 documents (#171)

adminandClaude Opus 5 4f546c0e08 Number fields drop trailing zeros: formatNumber still rounds to at most 3 decimals and then removes zeros at the end, so 100.000 reads 100 and 0.500 reads 0.5, everywhere (inspector, graph and shader nodes, duration and fps in the animation and tile tabs); a field's own decimals is now an upper limit, stored values are unchanged, -0 still shows as 0, and the graph's separate integer rule is gone (#172)

adminandClaude Opus 5 47eea2f6e4 Each tilemap layer has its own Z: an offset added to the Z of the placed tilemap, like a child's Z to its parent, default 0 keeps the previous order (layers right after their map, in list order), a negative Z sorts a layer below the map, on a tie layers keep their list order and follow the hierarchy against other objects; editor scene and game use the same order through the new pure function drawSlots, a tilemap draws into one container per layer, and the tilemap panel gains a Z field for the selected layer with one undo step per change (#174)

adminandClaude Opus 5 5385d9e152 The one-way tolerance angle is a field: a one-way collider and a one-way tile gain One-way angle (0 to 90 degrees, default 45), a contact blocks when its normal is within that angle of the blocking side, without a value the limit is bit-identical to before, and the rule holds for Move, Raycast and dynamic bodies in Rapier; tiles with different angles never merge into one rectangle, the scene view draws the angle as a cone in the middle of the thick side, and the inspector shows Blocks from and One-way angle only while One-way is on, through the new schema option shownWith (#159)

adminandClaude Opus 5 d4ea04d4d6 The scene view outlines a tilemap's collision only along its outer edges: where two pieces meet, their shared stretch runs once in each direction and is not drawn, so an autotile lake is one outline without cross strokes at the quarters, merged rectangles of plain tiles and one-way tiles follow the same rule, the bridges from splitting concave outlines disappear and a piece doubled on two layers is outlined once; fill and collision stay as they were, and the result is cached per tilemap and rebuilt only when its collision data changes (#173)

adminandClaude Opus 5 6a31f5e0ad One-way platforms, raycast and collision stay with contact data: a collider can be one-way with a side it blocks from (turning with its object, drawn thick in the scene view) and a tile can be one-way from above, one-way cells never merge with solid tiles, a contact blocks only when its normal is within 45 degrees of the blocking side, the new node Ignore one-way lets an object drop through for a while, and it all holds for Move and for dynamic bodies in Rapier, where the decision is made before each step because the hook may not touch the engine (#155); the new Raycast node answers hit, object, collider, point, normal and distance in our own f64 geometry, the same in editor run and play, and the editor run draws each ray for 0.25 s (#153); On collision stay gains an interval with its own clock per pair, and stay and enter gain the contact point next to normal and impulse (#149); fixes that every Rapier collider of a tilemap had the shape of its last cell

adminandClaude Opus 5 947a6b1977 Collision outlines for autotiles: a frame holds several outlines (click adds a corner to the active one, Ctrl/Cmd-click starts a new one, clicking another outline makes it active, Delete removes the active outline and never the frame in collision mode), an autotile's outlines are drawn over the whole block, cut at the quarters and each cell takes the pieces of exactly the quarters its image is made of, so edges, outer corners and notches follow automatically; a tile of the block with nothing drawn blocks fully, cells of only full quarters merge back into rectangles, collision scale does not apply to an outlined autotile, and the previous format with one flat outline still loads (#141)

adminandClaude Opus 5 32057a96fc Physics stage 2: colliders gain the shapes capsule and polygon, a polygon keeps its corners in the property points, turns, scales and mirrors with its object and is edited in the scene view (drag a corner, click an edge to insert one, double-click to delete, at least three stay, each step one undo step), a concave polygon is split into convex parts, a self-intersecting one is drawn red and collides with nothing, Rapier gets a capsule and one convex collider per part on the same body, and Move and the editor run use our own f64 geometry for the new shapes, where on a tie between two normals the one that blocks the move least wins, so a box no longer stops at the foot of a slope (#151); first version of a collision outline per texture frame, edited in the texture tab with the new Collision toggle, which a plain tile blocks with instead of its rectangle (#141, to be reworked)

adminandClaude Opus 5 78899b1ace Physics stage 1a runs on Rapier: a new Rigidbody child object (body type, mass, gravity scale, damping, fixed rotation, CCD) makes its parent fall, bounce and come to rest in play, colliders gain friction, bounciness and density, the scene gains gravity (0, 980), the new PhysicsSystem steps at a fixed 60 Hz with interpolation in world coordinates and treats a tilemap as static ground, On collision enter gains normal and impulse, play waits for Rapier and does not start without it, and the editor run keeps the old CollisionSystem; the existing collision tests run against both systems unchanged (#146)

game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 1m47s
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 4m55s
The Animation tab shows the root asset over the timeline, with every row's value at the
playhead written onto a copy of it – the sprite, text or container placed at the origin as a
scene would place it, a scene as itself. Rows reach the root through that placed object and its
children through the object's instance edits, the route a placed container's content takes,
so the ids match what the runtime gives them. The runtime player and the preview evaluate a row
through one function (trackWriteAt), relative rows included; past the end of a once-reset pass
the preview shows the starting values, as the player would. Play, pause and the ruler drive the
preview through the timeline's playhead; a drag pans, the wheel zooms, Centre frames it. The
document is never touched and undo never hears of scrubbing.

On animation finished no longer describes itself as hearing "a sprite of the owner".

adminandClaude Opus 5 4ed2edd0f0 An animation is a value a graph can pick, and playing a running one makes it win again (#97)
Play, Pause and Stop animation take the animation on a port instead of a
fixed setting, fed by the new Animation literal or a list item tagged
`$animation`. Playing an animation already running keeps its frame but
counts it as started last, so turning back to a walk that never stopped
shows that walk. The actor demo walks through one Play animation over
`ItemAt(walk, facing)` again and stops every animation to stand.

adminandClaude Opus 5 193378e6a9 An animation is a timeline of rows over one asset, played on an object rather than worn as a picture (#97)
Part (a) of the animation rework: model, commands, saving, runtime and nodes.

- AnimationAsset holds a root (sprite, text, container or scene) and rows; a row keys one
property of the root or of an object inside it, keys sit on whole frames.
- The last key decides the length (its frame counts as a frame of its own). The playhead runs
between frames, so numbers and colors blend every tick even at 10 fps; everything else holds.
- Playback gains `once-reset`, which puts back what was there before the start. A row can be
relative, adding to where its target stood.
- Play / Pause / Stop animation act on an object; each instance plays on its own, the later
start wins on a shared property, and a behavior writing the same property still writes last.
- A sprite no longer wears an animation through `texture`. "Create animation from texture"
builds a sprite plus a texture row keyed frame by frame instead.
- The Animation tab shows a placeholder until the timeline editor (part b) lands.

game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 2m53s
Refactoring round two: the particle and shader compilers share emitGraph.ts (cycle detection,
duplicate names, emit order) and keep only their rules. FontLibrary and TextureLibrary sit on
FileLibrary (base URL, loading/failed bookkeeping, listeners); SoundLibrary keeps its own
contract. The three Create*Command share ImportFileCommand, the three renames share
RenameCommand - class names stay. bandBounds() in framing.ts and portNameField() in
portSection.ts replace in-file clones, and three comments that told history now state the rule.

adminandClaude Opus 5 bf0be66c9d A frame with borders tiles unless told to stretch
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 1m32s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 5m47s
The fill of a sliced frame defaulted to `Stretch`. It is `Repeat` now, and the Fill dropdown lists
`Repeat` first.

The saved document keeps writing only the fill that differs from the default, so the key it
carries is now `stretch`, and a frame without it repeats. A frame saved before with the key
absent and meaning stretch would therefore tile; none of the stored projects has one - both sliced
frames on the server carry `fill: "repeat"` explicitly, so they draw as before.

nodes — `nodeIds` and `annotationIds` side by side — so one drag moves all of it, one Delete
removes all of it, and one undo takes it back. A box counts only when the band holds all of it,
where a node counts on touching: a group wraps the nodes it holds and therefore overlaps every
band drawn over any of them, and since it drags those nodes along, catching it by accident would
be felt at once.

A node inside a selected group is moved once, not twice — `travellers()` collects everything one
gesture carries and lets each thing appear in it a single time.

adminandClaude Opus 5 be8f2331de A frame that keeps its corners can be stretched to any size (#41)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 6m21s
TextureFrame carries optional `border` (left/right/top/bottom) and
`fill` (stretch | repeat); absent keys mean "not sliced", so no format
bump and undo restores the plain frame instead of four zeroes.

The sliced sprite builds its own geometry instead of the shared
UNIT_QUAD: a 4x4 grid, and for `repeat` one quad per tile carrying the
frame cell's real UVs -- tiling in the geometry, not in the sampler, so
a frame out of a sheet cannot pull its neighbour in. Above 64 tiles per
axis it stretches, to bound the buffer.

A sprite narrower than left+right scales both borders down together
until the middle is exactly 0, so the corners meet at a seam and never
overlap.

The texture editor gets four draggable border lines plus the same four
numbers in the inspector. Hit order is resize handles, then the lines,
then the frame body -- handleAt reports 'move' anywhere inside a frame,
so lines placed after it were unreachable.

adminandClaude Opus 5 b9f1a9d319 A graph that grew past one screen needs somewhere to say what a part of it is for (#38)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 6m13s
The graph could hold any number of nodes and said nothing about which of them
belonged together. Groups and comments are two separate things, as decided in
the issue: a group is a titled box that carries the nodes it encloses, a
comment is free text that carries nothing.

Both live as optional arrays on Graph, not as registry nodes. A comment that
were a real node would run through the interpreter, show up in the drop
palettes and be compiled into a shader — the wrong place for a piece of text.
As arrays on Graph they exist in all four graph kinds at once, and a document
without them means exactly "no groups", so no format bump.

Membership is computed when the box is grabbed, never stored: the center of a
node inside the box travels with it, and a node dragged out is simply out. A
box inside a box travels with the outer one, its own nodes included. A group
is grabbed by its title bar only — its body stays transparent to the pointer,
or a rubber band could never be drawn across the nodes it holds. Deleting a
box deletes the box; the nodes stay where they are, because a box that
silently took ten nodes with it would be the most expensive surprise in the
feature.

The color is a free picker, and the title color follows from it: relative
luminance per WCAG, threshold at 0.179 where the two contrast ratios meet —
not 0.5, which would pick white on mid grey where black reads better.

Resizing snaps the far edge to the grid, not the width, so the corner that is
not being dragged stays put. The minimum size rises in whole steps for that
reason: 80 is no multiple of 24, so a box squeezed to the stop would have sat
off-grid in exactly the mode meant to keep it on.

admin 7e5003b590 A test that waits for a deadline somebody guessed is waiting for the wrong thing, so it waits for the editor (#93)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 6m48s
The suite spent 88% of its step time asleep: 564 s of steps, 496 s of
them in sleep(n) - fixed spans estimated by hand and then copied from
step to step. That is why it was slow, and why it flickered.

The signal is afterFrames(count, timeout) in ui/render.ts, exposed as
__gm.afterFrames(). It wakes the loop itself, because an editor that
draws nothing would never redeem a promise of a frame, and it gives up
after a timeout instead of hanging the run. settle() in the harness
waits two drawn frames (~32 ms) instead of 150-300 ms and falls back to
sleep(150) when the hook is missing (an old build): silently not
waiting would make every later check a coin toss.

Every action goes through it now - click, doubleClick, wheel, drag,
dragAsset, press, typeText, select, mutate, undo, redo - and with that
about 550 sleep() calls behind those actions became redundant, helpers
that are nothing but a mutate in a coat included. What a frame cannot
answer got its own condition instead: waitUntil(expr), play()/stop()
waiting on __gm.state.mode rather than on 300 ms, saved() for the
autosave (the two hand-written polling loops sampled at 300 ms for
something that arrives after a second), and showTab() as a real tool -
47 places called evaluate("__gm.showTab(...)") raw, and 24 of them
waited for nothing at all and read the old panel.

564 s -> 243 s of step time, the waiting share 88% -> 76%. Three kinds
of wait were kept, and each one bit when it was taken away: loading
bytes (textures, fonts), game time that a repaint cannot stand in for
(time scale, shader and particle clocks, the live values a running
graph carries), and the inertia the scroll step measures on purpose.

Two things the new speed uncovered, both real: 25-animation read the
frame menu unfiltered and had frozen an incomplete list (the CI failure
on c990dbc), and 33-render-on-change measured idleness while the
autosave of the step before was still painting - it waits for
saveStatus to leave dirty/saving now, so it measures that nothing
happens any more instead of that it waited long enough.

admin 150f2e0906 A row scrolled out of its list is not on the screen, so no test may click it
CI found the gap the hard way: with every kind of asset in the project
the new scene sits below the panel, and the right click for "Set as
start scene" landed somewhere under the list instead of on the row.
locate() only asked whether a text was visible, and a masked row still
is - it is merely clipped away.

locateAll and overlayTexts now walk the tree together (eachText) and
carry the clip of every ancestor, measured on the widget that owns the
mask: Pixi v8 hands a Graphics set as a mask to the mask effect and
reports empty bounds for it, so asking the mask itself declares every
masked text in the editor missing. Two hooks with two notions of
"visible" was the second half of the same bug.

The panel also scrolls the selected row into view now, the way the
hierarchy has always done - an asset selected elsewhere has to be
findable in the list, test or no test. And step 21 learned that scene
is a property kind.

admin 1e9d21cd5d A game that is more than one scene needs a way from one to the next, so the graph can load one (#39)
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 11m6s
Load scene sets a flag on the World like Stop and Restart do; the swap
happens after the tick, and the last wish of a tick wins. Exactly one
thing crosses over: the SharedState, so global variables and global
machines keep what they know while everything local is built anew.
Loading the scene that is already running rebuilds it, which is what
"reset the level" means when the score must survive.

A run starts either from the start scene (a new project field, set from
the asset panel and marked with an arrow in the list) or from whatever
scene is open. The toggle next to Play says which question is asked and
remembers the answer in localStorage: it is a way of working, not part
of the game.

Sounds no longer end because a scene ends. A voice belongs to the
behavior that started it and stops right after On destroy, so the scene
swap is no longer a special case at all. For the enemy that plays its
explosion and destroys itself in the same breath there is now a
detached input on Play sound.

The scene selector stays usable while a run plays, because a double
click in the asset panel already did the same thing unguarded. It moves
what the editor looks at, not what the run plays.

adminandClaude Opus 5 3b039384c4 A search that ignores what a thing is called is no search, so the name wins (#43)
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 10m23s
Typing "variable" into the node palette landed on `Run behavior`, because the
filter weighed label, type and description alike and then sorted by category.
`searchRank` in `src/ui/search.ts` now ranks a match: exact label or type, then
prefix, then label, then type, and only last a hit that lives in the
description alone. Category and alphabet order within a rank. The searchable
`Menu` uses the same function, so searching means the same thing everywhere.

The `+` menu grew to fifteen entries in declaration order. It is built in two
alphabetical groups now -- the types that go into a scene, then the ones that
stay in the library -- with a separator between them, the split `isPlaceableType`
already draws. `ASSET_TYPES` itself stays untouched: it is also the
serialisation and check order. A search flattens the groups and drops the lines.

Popups were capped at fixed heights (320 menu, 260 palette, 340 pickers) while
the canvas had room to spare. `Popup.roomFor()` measures its own chrome and
takes the window height minus a tenth at each end. Placement clamps
asymmetrically: the bottom margin is enforced, the top is only a budget, so a
menu anchored near the top stays at its button instead of being pushed off it.

admin 5671a38044 A game that stays silent is only half a game, so a sound is an asset like any other (#45)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 12m1s
Sounds follow the road fonts already paved: the file goes to the server
content-addressed under its sha256, the project keeps a named asset that
points at it, and nothing is ever re-encoded. The format is read from the
file's own signature, not from what the browser claims - the same .m4a
arrives as audio/mp4, audio/x-m4a or as nothing at all.

Playing is two nodes. "Play sound" takes the asset and may raise or lower
its volume; every call is its own voice, so two jumps in a row are two
jumps heard. Its loop input is a choice of three - from the asset, on,
off - because a checkbox has to spend one of its two positions on "not
set" and would lose a case: an asset that loops could then never be
played once.

Below the graph core stays browser-free: NodeContext hands out an asset
id, BehaviorSystem resolves it against the project and folds the asset's
own volume and loop into the call, and only viewport/SoundLibrary knows
about Web Audio. A run without a sink plays nothing instead of throwing.

The CI browser is muted, so the ear is no witness: the debug hook counts
started and stopped voices, and step 34 reads that counter.

adminandClaude Opus 5 7babf88636 A state change is something the graph can react to, so the machine announces it (#53, #54, #55, #57)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 10m58s
Four issues that all reach for the same line: how the current state is
read and written. Splitting them into four commits would mean four
states of the tree that do not compile, so they arrive together.

#55 start state — the machine asset carries an optional `start` holding
a State node's id. Right-click a state to set or remove it, a ring in
the node's title says which one it is. A dead id (the state was deleted)
reads as "no start", so nothing has to clean up after a deletion.

#53 entered/exited — `On state entered` and `On state exited`, one exec
output per state. Every change now goes through a single `setState`
that reports it; BehaviorSystem delivers it after the exec flow that
caused it, `exited` of the old before `entered` of the new, round after
round until the queue is empty, with a cap that stops a ping-pong graph
with an endless-loop error. A local machine tells the instance that
switched, a global one tells every instance holding a matching event
node. The start state fires `entered` too: per instance for a local
machine, once per run for a global one.

#57 reading — `Current state` with `name` for showing and `id` for
comparing, `Is in state` with one boolean per state. Neither has a
`run`, so `read` learned `def` and `lookup`, and the catalog test knows
this third kind of node.

#54 seeing it — during a run the state machine tab marks every state
some instance is holding faintly, and the one held by the selected
scene object's instance strongly.
