adminandClaude Opus 5 e3ebf44593 Asset panel grouped by kind with icons: assets are listed under a header per kind (Sprites, Behaviors, ...) with the count on the right, empty groups are not shown, every group starts folded when a project is opened, a click on the header folds and unfolds it, selecting an asset elsewhere unfolds its group and folding the group of the selected asset clears the selection; every asset kind has an SVG icon in src/editor/panels/icons/ drawn before the name, the pure rule for grouping and sorting lives in assetGroups.ts; the same icons replace the kind word in document tabs and the overflow menu (a list icon for the List tab, which also fixes the close x lying over the end of the active tab's text), stand before every entry of the + menu (Button got an icon option) and on the right of scene object rows instead of the type name; the colour swatch next to sprite names is gone from both panels; the SVG loader moved to src/ui/svg.ts for both icon sets; test hook assetRow unfolds the group and scrolls to the row, assetRowShown only reads, new hook menuIcons; e2e 4g and 4h, 14 and 44a check the icons (#176)

adminandClaude Opus 5 1c212b1ccc Scene view symbols come from SVG files: the behavior, container, rigidbody, camera and particles icons live in src/viewport/icons/ and are changed by editing the file and running npm run build; they are bundled, parsed once and drawn into a Graphics by the new module symbolIcons.ts, currentColor becomes the theme color of the symbol, the origin sits in the middle with a centered viewBox and the same units as before, so the symbols are pixel for pixel unchanged; what depends on the object (camera frame, collider outline, one-way cone) stays in code; unit tests keep the files to what Pixi's SVG parser and a browser draw alike (no transform, no polygon, fill always given), e2e 5c reads the five symbols in the theme color (#175)

adminandClaude Opus 5 25ec7879a0 Several transitions between the same pair of states: make transition onto a state that is already connected in that direction adds another transition, which gets its own name right away (Transition 2, Transition 3, skipping names that already leave the state), so two unnamed transitions between one pair never exist; renaming is refused when another transition between the same pair in the same direction already carries the name, the empty name included, while equal names to other targets are only warned about as before; the behavior graph keeps Already connected; self transitions may repeat too, each further loop drawn as a ring around the previous one with the preview showing the next ring, and transition labels that would cover another one slide along their own edge until they are free (pure function freeLabelSpot); test hook transitionLabelAt also returns width and height, e2e 26e6 (#162)

adminandClaude Opus 5 010b6a7f6c A state can transition to itself: make transition and a second click on the same state connects a self transition, taking it fires On state exited and then On state entered every time, for local and global machines, while Set state into the current state stays silent as before; only states may connect to themselves, every other node is still refused, one self transition per state; the loop is drawn over the middle of the top edge with its arrow pointing down and its name at the apex, the preview already shows it while armed, and the inspector lists it once under Transitions out; new test hook transitionLabelAt, e2e 26e5 (#163)

adminandClaude Opus 5 cc285af10a Tabs are open documents: Scene, Game and Plugins stay as fixed tabs, every other asset opens in its own tab (double click or Enter in the asset panel, on creation, from the list button), several assets of one kind can be open at once, a tab is labelled with its kind dimmed before the name, cut at 160 px and renamed with its asset, closes with its x or a middle click and goes away when its asset is deleted; a tab always shows its own document instead of following the selection, the picker in the tab head is gone, zoom and scroll are kept per document for the session and dropped on close, a double click on a call node stays in the same tab with breadcrumbs per tab; one editor per kind is switched between documents, the placement rules live in the pure module documents.ts, and the test hook showTab stays as a compatibility path; new e2e module 44 documents (#171)

adminandClaude Opus 5 4f546c0e08 Number fields drop trailing zeros: formatNumber still rounds to at most 3 decimals and then removes zeros at the end, so 100.000 reads 100 and 0.500 reads 0.5, everywhere (inspector, graph and shader nodes, duration and fps in the animation and tile tabs); a field's own decimals is now an upper limit, stored values are unchanged, -0 still shows as 0, and the graph's separate integer rule is gone (#172)

adminandClaude Opus 5 47eea2f6e4 Each tilemap layer has its own Z: an offset added to the Z of the placed tilemap, like a child's Z to its parent, default 0 keeps the previous order (layers right after their map, in list order), a negative Z sorts a layer below the map, on a tie layers keep their list order and follow the hierarchy against other objects; editor scene and game use the same order through the new pure function drawSlots, a tilemap draws into one container per layer, and the tilemap panel gains a Z field for the selected layer with one undo step per change (#174)

adminandClaude Opus 5 5385d9e152 The one-way tolerance angle is a field: a one-way collider and a one-way tile gain One-way angle (0 to 90 degrees, default 45), a contact blocks when its normal is within that angle of the blocking side, without a value the limit is bit-identical to before, and the rule holds for Move, Raycast and dynamic bodies in Rapier; tiles with different angles never merge into one rectangle, the scene view draws the angle as a cone in the middle of the thick side, and the inspector shows Blocks from and One-way angle only while One-way is on, through the new schema option shownWith (#159)

adminandClaude Opus 5 d4ea04d4d6 The scene view outlines a tilemap's collision only along its outer edges: where two pieces meet, their shared stretch runs once in each direction and is not drawn, so an autotile lake is one outline without cross strokes at the quarters, merged rectangles of plain tiles and one-way tiles follow the same rule, the bridges from splitting concave outlines disappear and a piece doubled on two layers is outlined once; fill and collision stay as they were, and the result is cached per tilemap and rebuilt only when its collision data changes (#173)

adminandClaude Opus 5 6a31f5e0ad One-way platforms, raycast and collision stay with contact data: a collider can be one-way with a side it blocks from (turning with its object, drawn thick in the scene view) and a tile can be one-way from above, one-way cells never merge with solid tiles, a contact blocks only when its normal is within 45 degrees of the blocking side, the new node Ignore one-way lets an object drop through for a while, and it all holds for Move and for dynamic bodies in Rapier, where the decision is made before each step because the hook may not touch the engine (#155); the new Raycast node answers hit, object, collider, point, normal and distance in our own f64 geometry, the same in editor run and play, and the editor run draws each ray for 0.25 s (#153); On collision stay gains an interval with its own clock per pair, and stay and enter gain the contact point next to normal and impulse (#149); fixes that every Rapier collider of a tilemap had the shape of its last cell

adminandClaude Opus 5 947a6b1977 Collision outlines for autotiles: a frame holds several outlines (click adds a corner to the active one, Ctrl/Cmd-click starts a new one, clicking another outline makes it active, Delete removes the active outline and never the frame in collision mode), an autotile's outlines are drawn over the whole block, cut at the quarters and each cell takes the pieces of exactly the quarters its image is made of, so edges, outer corners and notches follow automatically; a tile of the block with nothing drawn blocks fully, cells of only full quarters merge back into rectangles, collision scale does not apply to an outlined autotile, and the previous format with one flat outline still loads (#141)

adminandClaude Opus 5 32057a96fc Physics stage 2: colliders gain the shapes capsule and polygon, a polygon keeps its corners in the property points, turns, scales and mirrors with its object and is edited in the scene view (drag a corner, click an edge to insert one, double-click to delete, at least three stay, each step one undo step), a concave polygon is split into convex parts, a self-intersecting one is drawn red and collides with nothing, Rapier gets a capsule and one convex collider per part on the same body, and Move and the editor run use our own f64 geometry for the new shapes, where on a tie between two normals the one that blocks the move least wins, so a box no longer stops at the foot of a slope (#151); first version of a collision outline per texture frame, edited in the texture tab with the new Collision toggle, which a plain tile blocks with instead of its rectangle (#141, to be reworked)

adminandClaude Opus 5 1b5e386b60 Move with collision reacts along the contact normal: it travels to the surface, stays flush and slides the rest of the move along it with Coulomb friction (the mean of both colliders, a tile counts as 0.5), a circle now rolls over an edge instead of catching on it, pushed dynamic bodies move off along the normal, Move gains the outputs hit, normal x and normal y, an object without its own collider moves freely, and editor run and play share the same path through Solids; contact point and normal come from our own f64 geometry (contactBetween), because Rapier's castShape lands 3e-6 px inside the wall in f32 (#150)

adminandClaude Opus 5 d931e66f92 e2e 41b finds the ball's bounces by its turning points instead of frames within a pixel of the ground: the ball lands at ~9 px per frame, so whether a drawn frame catches the landing depended on where it fell between two physics steps, and CI missed the first landing and read the second bounce as the first (#147)

adminandClaude Opus 5 328f978d3c Set gravity survives a re-read of the model during play: World.setSceneProp remembers what the run itself set on the scene and syncFromModel lays it back over the copied scene props, so a project event mid-play no longer resets the gravity to the saved 980; the unit test re-reads the model mid-run and e2e 41c forces a project event right after play starts (#147)

adminandClaude Opus 5 78899b1ace Physics stage 1a runs on Rapier: a new Rigidbody child object (body type, mass, gravity scale, damping, fixed rotation, CCD) makes its parent fall, bounce and come to rest in play, colliders gain friction, bounciness and density, the scene gains gravity (0, 980), the new PhysicsSystem steps at a fixed 60 Hz with interpolation in world coordinates and treats a tilemap as static ground, On collision enter gains normal and impulse, play waits for Rapier and does not start without it, and the editor run keeps the old CollisionSystem; the existing collision tests run against both systems unchanged (#146)

The corner tables are now derived from rmmz_core.js (Tilemap._addAutotile,
FLOOR_AUTOTILE_TABLE, WALL_AUTOTILE_TABLE): the fill quadrants are taken
rotated by half a tile so that neighbouring tiles meet with the quarters that
sit next to each other on the sheet, and the inner corners come from the upper
right tile of the block, not the upper left one. A test pins the model against
both MZ tables, generated from rmmz_core.js rather than typed out.

The animation check in e2e module 39 read its four pixels one by one and could
straddle a frame change; step and pixels are now read in a single call.

adminandClaude Opus 5 4ed2edd0f0 An animation is a value a graph can pick, and playing a running one makes it win again (#97)
Play, Pause and Stop animation take the animation on a port instead of a
fixed setting, fed by the new Animation literal or a list item tagged
`$animation`. Playing an animation already running keeps its frame but
counts it as started last, so turning back to a walk that never stopped
shows that walk. The actor demo walks through one Play animation over
`ItemAt(walk, facing)` again and stops every animation to stand.

adminandClaude Opus 5 193378e6a9 An animation is a timeline of rows over one asset, played on an object rather than worn as a picture (#97)
Part (a) of the animation rework: model, commands, saving, runtime and nodes.

- AnimationAsset holds a root (sprite, text, container or scene) and rows; a row keys one
property of the root or of an object inside it, keys sit on whole frames.
- The last key decides the length (its frame counts as a frame of its own). The playhead runs
between frames, so numbers and colors blend every tick even at 10 fps; everything else holds.
- Playback gains `once-reset`, which puts back what was there before the start. A row can be
relative, adding to where its target stood.
- Play / Pause / Stop animation act on an object; each instance plays on its own, the later
start wins on a shared property, and a behavior writing the same property still writes last.
- A sprite no longer wears an animation through `texture`. "Create animation from texture"
builds a sprite plus a texture row keyed frame by frame instead.

adminandClaude Opus 5 bf0be66c9d A frame with borders tiles unless told to stretch
game-maker / gate (push) Successful in 1m32s
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 5m47s
The fill of a sliced frame defaulted to `Stretch`. It is `Repeat` now, and the Fill dropdown lists
`Repeat` first.

The saved document keeps writing only the fill that differs from the default, so the key it
carries is now `stretch`, and a frame without it repeats. A frame saved before with the key
absent and meaning stretch would therefore tile; none of the stored projects has one - both sliced
frames on the server carry `fill: "repeat"` explicitly, so they draw as before.

adminandClaude Opus 5 94a0a578ed A border drawn in pixels is as wide as the texture says a pixel is, so a small sheet can frame a large sprite (#96)
A sliced frame drew its borders one source pixel to one sprite unit. Pixel-art sheets are small:
a 16px corner on a 400-unit button is a thin line, and the only way around it was a larger image.

The texture now carries `Nine-slice scale` (default 1), next to `Filter`. It sets how many sprite
units one border pixel takes, for every sliced frame of that texture. The UVs stay as they are -
a corner shows the same pixels, only larger or smaller. When the sprite is too small for both
borders they are still scaled down together, now starting from the scaled size. With `Repeat`
the tile size scales too, otherwise a doubled border would sit beside a pattern of the old size.

The value is a schema row, so inspector field, saving and undo come without their own code.
Anything that is not a size above 0 reads as 1, and documents without it draw as before.

adminandClaude Opus 5 36ccc7626f A box drawn around a part of the graph is part of it, so a fit frames it and a band catches it (#95)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 6m22s
Fit measured the nodes alone: a group drawn around them was cut off, and a graph holding nothing
but a comment framed the empty origin. It now frames both sorts together.

The rubber band ignored boxes entirely. It catches them now, into the *same* selection as the
nodes — `nodeIds` and `annotationIds` side by side — so one drag moves all of it, one Delete
removes all of it, and one undo takes it back. A box counts only when the band holds all of it,
where a node counts on touching: a group wraps the nodes it holds and therefore overlaps every
band drawn over any of them, and since it drags those nodes along, catching it by accident would
be felt at once.

A node inside a selected group is moved once, not twice — `travellers()` collects everything one
gesture carries and lets each thing appear in it a single time.

adminandClaude Opus 5 be8f2331de A frame that keeps its corners can be stretched to any size (#41)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 6m21s
TextureFrame carries optional `border` (left/right/top/bottom) and
`fill` (stretch | repeat); absent keys mean "not sliced", so no format
bump and undo restores the plain frame instead of four zeroes.

The sliced sprite builds its own geometry instead of the shared
UNIT_QUAD: a 4x4 grid, and for `repeat` one quad per tile carrying the
frame cell's real UVs -- tiling in the geometry, not in the sampler, so
a frame out of a sheet cannot pull its neighbour in. Above 64 tiles per
axis it stretches, to bound the buffer.

A sprite narrower than left+right scales both borders down together
until the middle is exactly 0, so the corners meet at a seam and never
overlap.

The texture editor gets four draggable border lines plus the same four
numbers in the inspector. Hit order is resize handles, then the lines,
then the frame body -- handleAt reports 'move' anywhere inside a frame,
so lines placed after it were unreachable.

adminandClaude Opus 5 b9f1a9d319 A graph that grew past one screen needs somewhere to say what a part of it is for (#38)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 6m13s
The graph could hold any number of nodes and said nothing about which of them
belonged together. Groups and comments are two separate things, as decided in
the issue: a group is a titled box that carries the nodes it encloses, a
comment is free text that carries nothing.

Both live as optional arrays on Graph, not as registry nodes. A comment that
were a real node would run through the interpreter, show up in the drop
palettes and be compiled into a shader — the wrong place for a piece of text.
As arrays on Graph they exist in all four graph kinds at once, and a document
without them means exactly "no groups", so no format bump.

Membership is computed when the box is grabbed, never stored: the center of a
node inside the box travels with it, and a node dragged out is simply out. A
box inside a box travels with the outer one, its own nodes included. A group
is grabbed by its title bar only — its body stays transparent to the pointer,
or a rubber band could never be drawn across the nodes it holds. Deleting a
box deletes the box; the nodes stay where they are, because a box that
silently took ten nodes with it would be the most expensive surprise in the
feature.

The color is a free picker, and the title color follows from it: relative
luminance per WCAG, threshold at 0.179 where the two contrast ratios meet —
not 0.5, which would pick white on mid grey where black reads better.

Resizing snaps the far edge to the grid, not the width, so the corner that is
not being dragged stays put. The minimum size rises in whole steps for that
reason: 80 is no multiple of 24, so a box squeezed to the stop would have sat
off-grid in exactly the mode meant to keep it on.

adminandClaude Opus 5 1135205d69 A machine that arrives as a value can still be commanded, so a name may name its state (#58)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 6m12s
Set state and State branch derived their ports from the graph, so a machine
that came out of a variable or a list had no ports at all: nothing to set,
nowhere to branch. It could be passed around but not operated.

stateByName() resolves id first, then name; a name two states carry answers
with nothing, the same rule transitionTo already follows for two transitions
of one name — without something in the graph that decides between them, any
pick would be a guess.

Set state by name takes the machine and a text, and has a second exec output
not found, so a typo is not swallowed in silence. State branch gains a
derived else that fires whenever no state output matches — no state set, a
state of another machine, or a machine that arrives as a value and therefore
has no state outputs at all. A flow that enters State branch now always
leaves it somewhere.

admin 7e5003b590 A test that waits for a deadline somebody guessed is waiting for the wrong thing, so it waits for the editor (#93)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 6m48s
The suite spent 88% of its step time asleep: 564 s of steps, 496 s of
them in sleep(n) - fixed spans estimated by hand and then copied from
step to step. That is why it was slow, and why it flickered.

The signal is afterFrames(count, timeout) in ui/render.ts, exposed as
__gm.afterFrames(). It wakes the loop itself, because an editor that
draws nothing would never redeem a promise of a frame, and it gives up
after a timeout instead of hanging the run. settle() in the harness
waits two drawn frames (~32 ms) instead of 150-300 ms and falls back to
sleep(150) when the hook is missing (an old build): silently not
waiting would make every later check a coin toss.

Every action goes through it now - click, doubleClick, wheel, drag,
dragAsset, press, typeText, select, mutate, undo, redo - and with that
about 550 sleep() calls behind those actions became redundant, helpers
that are nothing but a mutate in a coat included. What a frame cannot
answer got its own condition instead: waitUntil(expr), play()/stop()
waiting on __gm.state.mode rather than on 300 ms, saved() for the
autosave (the two hand-written polling loops sampled at 300 ms for
something that arrives after a second), and showTab() as a real tool -
47 places called evaluate("__gm.showTab(...)") raw, and 24 of them
waited for nothing at all and read the old panel.

564 s -> 243 s of step time, the waiting share 88% -> 76%. Three kinds
of wait were kept, and each one bit when it was taken away: loading
bytes (textures, fonts), game time that a repaint cannot stand in for
(time scale, shader and particle clocks, the live values a running
graph carries), and the inertia the scroll step measures on purpose.

Two things the new speed uncovered, both real: 25-animation read the
frame menu unfiltered and had frozen an incomplete list (the CI failure
on c990dbc), and 33-render-on-change measured idleness while the
autosave of the step before was still painting - it waits for
saveStatus to leave dirty/saving now, so it measures that nothing
happens any more instead of that it waited long enough.

admin c990dbcb26 A name that a sprite already owns cannot name a property, and a division by zero cannot answer (#63, #64)
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 11m29s
#63: a shader Property node named "width" quietly took over the sprite
row of the same name. isSpriteProp lives in PropertySchema now and is
derived from FULL_SCHEMAS.sprite instead of being a second list that
drifts. isValidPropertyName rejects those ten names, and the compiler
reports it at the node as its own problem: "width" is a sprite
property, told apart from "not a word" and from a duplicate.

#64: Divide emitted (a / b) and handed NaN to the driver. It emits
divide(a, b) now, with the guard in the prologue next to straight(),
scalar and per channel: zero divided by zero is zero. That was already
the house rule in the behavior and particle graphs - only the shader
had never been told. Clamp comes along as a shader node for the same
reason: the behavior catalog has had it all along.

admin 150f2e0906 A row scrolled out of its list is not on the screen, so no test may click it
CI found the gap the hard way: with every kind of asset in the project
the new scene sits below the panel, and the right click for "Set as
start scene" landed somewhere under the list instead of on the row.
locate() only asked whether a text was visible, and a masked row still
is - it is merely clipped away.

locateAll and overlayTexts now walk the tree together (eachText) and
carry the clip of every ancestor, measured on the widget that owns the
mask: Pixi v8 hands a Graphics set as a mask to the mask effect and
reports empty bounds for it, so asking the mask itself declares every
masked text in the editor missing. Two hooks with two notions of
"visible" was the second half of the same bug.

The panel also scrolls the selected row into view now, the way the
hierarchy has always done - an asset selected elsewhere has to be
findable in the list, test or no test. And step 21 learned that scene
is a property kind.

admin 1e9d21cd5d A game that is more than one scene needs a way from one to the next, so the graph can load one (#39)
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 11m6s
Load scene sets a flag on the World like Stop and Restart do; the swap
happens after the tick, and the last wish of a tick wins. Exactly one
thing crosses over: the SharedState, so global variables and global
machines keep what they know while everything local is built anew.
Loading the scene that is already running rebuilds it, which is what
"reset the level" means when the score must survive.

A run starts either from the start scene (a new project field, set from
the asset panel and marked with an arrow in the list) or from whatever
scene is open. The toggle next to Play says which question is asked and
remembers the answer in localStorage: it is a way of working, not part
of the game.

Sounds no longer end because a scene ends. A voice belongs to the
behavior that started it and stops right after On destroy, so the scene
swap is no longer a special case at all. For the enemy that plays its
explosion and destroys itself in the same breath there is now a
detached input on Play sound.

The scene selector stays usable while a run plays, because a double
click in the asset panel already did the same thing unguarded. It moves
what the editor looks at, not what the run plays.
