Give a song, a track or an item a sound FX of its own (#355)
A sound FX for one place in a song had to be a project asset, which then stood in every picker. Now every pick of a sound FX in a song can make one the song keeps for that place alone, on top of the embedded assets of the first two parts. - Create sound FX sits at the end of the Sound FX row of the song, a track and an item, and of the menu of a track's FX button. It makes "Sound FX 1", 2, … per song with the Input wired to the Output, picks it and opens it. That is one undo step. - Embed a copy, while the place names a project FX, gives the place a copy under the same name. - While the place names its own, the menu shows it with the mark and offers Edit sound FX and Make project asset. - Picking anything else lets it go in the same undo step. For a track or an item `settleEmbedded` did that already. For the song's own row `AssetPropertyCommand` now settles the song after `fx`. - The mark `•` moved to the core. `assetRefLabel` puts it in front of an embedded asset, so the inspector rows show it like the timeline. - `FieldHandlers.moreChoices` lets a caller end a reference menu with entries of its own. `embeddedPatternName` is `embeddedName` with a base now. Tests: - Unit own-fx (new): 6 green, 6 counter-checks each red - Unit embedded and 80 neighbouring files: 1434 green - e2e 65 (melektaus-atx): ALL PASSED, 51 checks (2 new) - Gate (melektaus-atx): CHECK EXIT 0, 270 files, 4178 tests Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Give sounds, instruments, patterns and songs a sound FX (#352)
A sound FX could only be picked where something was played: on a Play
node, a track or an item of a song. A sound that should always sound
through the same effect needed that pick everywhere it was used. Now
the asset says it once, and every place that plays it follows.
- New row Sound FX on a sound, an instrument, a pattern and a song,
right before Bus. A sound goes through it on every voice, an
instrument on every note after its graph, a pattern on all its
notes together and a song on its output.
- The fx input of Play sound, Play note, Play pattern and Play song
and the Sound FX of a song item now read "From the asset" while
empty. None is a pick of its own, stored as `#none` like `#master`.
A pick replaces the FX of the asset, it does not come on top.
- A pattern item's Instrument reads "From the asset" instead of None.
The meaning is unchanged.
- A double-click on a sound item opens the sound, as one on a pattern
item opens the pattern.
- The tabs play through the FX of their asset. The Pattern and Song
tab put it on a bus of their own between the output and the bus of
the asset. The keys of the Pattern tab play there too.
- Notes of a pattern or song go through the FX of their instrument.
Its chain is loaded with the other needs of the sequence.
Decided without asking:
- Old items and Play nodes with an empty fx now mean "From the
asset". No asset has an FX yet, so nothing sounds different.
- The label is "From the asset" as on Loop and Bus, not "From asset".
- A sound used as a Sample, as the impulse of a Reverb or as the test
sound of the Sound FX tab plays without its own FX.
Findings:
- In e2e, `__gm.inspectorField('Sound FX')` and `('Instrument')` find
the group of the Assets panel first. The check asks for the last
match.
Tests:
- Unit asset-fx (new): 8 green. Six counter-checks each turned red.
- Field lists of sound, pattern and song: Sound FX added.
- e2e 65 (melektaus-atx): ALL PASSED, 46 checks (3 new). Counter-check
without the FX bus of the tab: that check red.
- Gate (melektaus-atx): CHECK EXIT 0, 268 files, 4142 tests.
- Not checked: how it sounds, the Sound, Instrument and Pattern tab
in the browser.

Mix sounds through buses and a master (#325)
Until now every sound went straight to the speakers. There was no point where all of them came together, so nothing could turn the music down against the effects, and a compressor or a shared echo over everything had nowhere to sit. The bus technique of #346 was there already, only the end of the chain was missing. - Bus asset (Audio): Volume, Sound FX and Into. Into is empty for the master and never offers the bus itself nor a bus that already goes into it. The list is worked out when the menu opens, so a change made meanwhile counts. A loop that is in a project anyway sends the buses on it into the master. - The master is no asset. Its volume and sound FX are two new rows under Master in Project settings, one undo step each. A project written before has 1 and none, which is how it sounded. - Sound, instrument, pattern and song have a row Bus, empty for the master. Play sound, Play note, Play pattern and Play song have an input bus: From the asset, Master or a bus. Inside a song or a pattern only the bus of the song or pattern counts. - Set bus volume (bus, volume, time, easing) and Bus volume. An empty bus is the master. The volume set holds for the whole run, across scenes, over that of the asset. GameRun resets it at start and end. Set sound FX parameters without a voice now reaches the sound FX of the bus picked in its new bus input. - SoundLibrary: the master is the bus "mix", each bus "mix:<id>". Every bus, the playing masters of #346 included, ends there, and only the master is heard. setMix sets them up once a context exists, so an editor nobody listened to opens no audio device. The same mix again changes nothing, which lets the editor hand it over on every change of the project. - The tabs play as the game does: Sound, Sound FX, Instrument, Pattern and Song tab through the bus of their asset and the master. - Pause game does nothing to the buses (the user's answer 4b). A game that wants quiet in its pause menu sets a bus volume itself. - Streaming long music files is #349, split off as asked. Finding on the way: the Into menu first worked from a list made when the inspector row was built. After another bus was sent into the open one, e2e 34 saw it still offered. It is now asked on open. The SoundLibrary tests expected voices to end at the destination. They now end in the master, which adds its input, level and pan to every wiring and two gains to every list. Those expectations are updated, nothing else in them changed. Tests: - Unit buses (new): 15 green. Ten counter-checks, each red on its own: loop check, bus picked, reset at run start, bus of Set sound FX parameters, master volume in the settings, and in SoundLibrary default into the master, voices into the master, run volume over the mix, no context before a play, a playing on its bus. - Unit sound-library: 90 green (5 new). Node catalog: 416 green (9 new cases). - e2e 34 (melektaus-atx): ALL PASSED, 75 checks (3 new). The voice of the Sound tab was heard on mix:<bus>, that bus into the other, that one at 0.5 into the master. Master volume 0.6 via the dialog, undo back to 1. - Gate (melektaus-atx): CHECK EXIT 0, 262 files, 4072 tests. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Show each camera only its layers and lay overlay cameras on top (#302)
A camera could only show the whole scene, so a HUD drawn in the world would run through a camera shader (#299) with everything else. Render layers say which cameras see an object, and overlay cameras draw their own picture over the main one. - The project has a list of up to 16 render layers, edited in Project settings next to the collision layers. It is a list of its own, read by the same rules (`layerNamesOf`). - Sprites, texts, tilemaps, particle sources and containers carry a row `Render layer` under their switches. Its default `Inherit` takes the parent's layer, at the top the first one. - A camera has `Sees` (all layers by default) and `Overlay`. The main camera is the first one switched on without Overlay, so two plain cameras still draw through the first one only. - Every view through a camera keeps only what that camera sees and lays one see-through view per overlay camera over itself. That view is a `WorldViewport` of its own, handed its view and frame from below. - An overlay is fitted into the main camera's whole picture without distortion. One of the same size and zoom covers it exactly. - `z` sorts within one camera only. The pictures lie on top of each other as a whole, which is what a shader per camera (#299) needs. - The Game tab's preview now collects the scene once per redraw. Before it collected it twice, with the cameras it would have been five times. - `SetCollisionLayersCommand` became `SetLayerNamesCommand`, which takes the list it sets. Follow-ups: #304 (the mouse through a chosen camera) and #305 (change the render layer at run time). Tests: - Gate: 226 files, 3487 tests (3480 + 7) - e2e 63 (new): 4 checks. A green overlay sprite at z -10 covers a red main sprite at z 1000, in the preview and in the running game. A `UI` sprite in front of the main camera and a `Default` one in front of the overlay stay away. Without Overlay the second camera draws nothing. The settings dialog adds a render layer at the end. - Counter-checks: inheriting from parents switched off fails 1 unit test. Overlays never drawn fails the two overlay checks in e2e 63. - e2e total 1720 (1716 + 4), computed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Say what a button without words does when the pointer rests (#209)
The top bar, the magnet, the eye and many marks of the inspector are
pictures without a caption. Whoever did not know one could only try
it. The toolkit had no hint on hover, which also forced the point
menu of #195 to be words. The answers in the issue settle the open
points: a cut tab name shows in full, shortcuts are part of the
text, the point menu stays as it is.
- Button takes a tooltip, a text or a function asked each time. It
shows on a small sign once the pointer has rested for half a
second.
- There is one sign for the page, a TooltipLayer on the overlay
above the menus. A control reports each pointer move and the
pointer leaving, the layer does the waiting.
- A press, a key, the wheel or a blur of the window takes the sign
away. initUI listens for them on the window.
- placeTooltip in ui/tooltip.ts is the rule for the place as a pure
function: under the control and flush left, flush right at the
right border, above the control at the bottom.
- toolbarTip says what the five buttons of the top bar do right now.
Undo and redo name their step from CommandStack.undoLabel and
redoLabel, as in "Undo Paint tiles (Ctrl+Z)".
- A SortableList reports its own marks with a key per mark: the eye,
the duplicate mark, the cross and the plus.
- The magnet, both fullscreen buttons, the eye of the scene tab, the
overflow of the tab strip, the plus of the assets panel, the marks
of the inspector rows and the nine anchors of the resize dialog
carry a text.
Decided here:
- Every button whose text is cut short shows the whole text, not
only a tab.
- A row action of the inspector names the one thing a click does. A
button that opens a menu says only Reset, Apply or Size from the
picture.
- A button just clicked stays quiet until the pointer has left it.
- A greyed out button shows no sign.
- The switches of the eye popup, the cross of a document tab and the
tools of pixel art have none. The tools carry words, other than
the issue assumes.
- The marks of a list say Show or Hide, Duplicate, Remove and Add,
whatever the list holds.
Found on the way:
- Signing out empties the overlay and would have destroyed a sign on
screen with it. The editor takes the tooltip away first. This has
no test of its own.
- The text hooks locate and has skip the sign, or it would answer
for the button under it.
Tests:
- Gate on melektaus-atx: 210 files, 3209 tests (3176 + 33), exit 0
- e2e 46 on melektaus-atx: 20 checks, all pass
- e2e 1-14 on melektaus-atx: 508 checks, all pass
- e2e 1-9,14,39,40,44-48: 685 pass, 2 fail, both in module 14. It
measures tabs that modules 10 to 13 open, and the chain 1-14 is
green. The cut chain was not run on the state before.
- No full run and no smokes. The sum of 1667 (1664 + 3) is reckoned,
1664 is what CI counted for

Pick the target of an object variable in the Scene View (#276)
Choosing the target of an object variable meant finding its name in a dropdown. With many objects, or several with the same sprite, the name alone does not say which one it is. The eyedropper lets you click the object where you see it instead. - Every object dropdown gets an eyedropper button next to it. This covers variables, struct fields and list entries, in the Inspector and in the Variables tab. - The button opens the Scene View or the container tab the object lives in. A strip above the view names the field and the current candidate and offers Take and Cancel. The cursor is a crosshair. - A click picks a candidate and writes nothing yet. The candidate gets its own cyan frame, the selection stays on the object with the variable. - Clicking follows the selection rule. `pickOn` in `src/viewport/pick.ts` uses `pressOn` and only counts objects the dropdown offers. A click on empty space keeps the candidate. - Enter or Take writes through the same handlers as the dropdown. That is one undo step, or none if nothing changes. - Esc, Cancel, a right click in the view or a second click on the button cancel without writing. So do a tab switch, another selection, undo, redo, play and loading a project. - After Take or Cancel the editor goes back to the tab the pick came from. - While the eyedropper runs, the view does not drag, marquee, paint, show handles or open its context menu. Panning and zooming stay. Found on the way: - Started from the Variables tab, the click missed the object. The Scene View is hidden while that tab is open, and the layout skips hidden children. The strip appeared then, the view moved down by 32 px but kept its old height. `Editor.display()` now lays the row out again after showing it. Tests (on melektaus-atx): - unit pick and object-pick: 27 passed, 13 new - gate: 196 files, 2844 tests, CHECK EXIT 0. Two more come from svg-icons, which checks every icon twice. - e2e 57: ALL PASSED, 12 checks, 5 new (57e to 57g) - Counter-checks work. Without the layout fix 57g fails. Picking objects the dropdown does not offer fails 2 tests. Writing on cancel fails 2 more. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Let Tab reach the game in the Game tab (#261)
The game did get Tab, but the editor moved the keyboard focus to a button at the same time. The next Space then pressed that button instead of reaching the game. The key field of On key down could not capture Tab at all, so an inventory on Tab could not be built. - FocusManager asks tabBelongsElsewhere before it moves the focus. The editor answers yes while the Game tab is in front, so Tab stays with the game as long as no field has the focus. - A widget can claim Tab through takesTab. The key capture button does so while it is capturing, so On key down accepts Tab. - The harness knows the key Tab. Found on the way: - The first version of check 20g left the Behavior tab in front, and module 21 then failed in the chained run. 20g now goes back. Tests: - ./check.sh: 2746 tests, CHECK EXIT 0. - e2e 20 has two new checks: Tab reaches the game and leaves the keyboard with it, the key field captures Tab. Both failed against the old bundle. - GM_STEPS=19,20: all passed, 44 checks. The full local run with all three topics of this push passed with 1543 checks. Pick an object of the same scene for an Object variable (#258)
An Object variable could only be set by a graph while the game runs.
A placed object always showed "(null)", although the other objects of
its scene are there to choose from and the runtime can already find
any object by its id. Now the placed object stores a reference to one
of them, and the running game turns it into the real object.
- Stored as {"$object": "<id>"}. The empty placeholder stays as it
was, so old projects load unchanged and empty still means "(null)".
- The row of an Object variable on a placed object is a dropdown with
None and every object of the scene, indented like the Hierarchy.
The same goes for Object fields in structs and Object items in
lists, also in the Variables and List tabs.
- The behavior asset keeps "(null)". An asset has no scene, so "Apply
to asset" is gone from Object rows.
- The runtime resolves the reference when the Variables or Properties
node reads it. A destroyed target reads as null, a missing one shows
"(missing)" in the row.
- Inside a container only objects of the same container are offered.
The reference keeps the template id, so every placement finds its
own copy.
- Deleting the target clears the reference in the same undo step.
Paste points references inside the pasted group at the copies and
leaves outside references alone. Create container and Unpack carry
references along with the new ids.
- A value a graph writes while running stays in the run. The scene
keeps the picked object, also in "Run in editor".
Found on the way:
- Setting an override coerced every object slot to empty, in plain
values, struct fields and list items. The shared objectPlace() now
keeps the reference.
Not done:
- No eyedropper to pick in the scene, the dropdown is enough for now.
- Deleting a template object in the container editor does not clean up
references in other scenes. They read as null there.
Tests:
- ./check.sh: 187 files, 2724 tests, CHECK EXIT 0
- e2e 1-9, 51, 57: ALL PASSED, 389 checks
- e2e 1, 57 on the final bundle: ALL PASSED, 17 checks
- 13 unit tests in object-references.test.ts, 5 checks in e2e 57
- Counter-checks: 8 unit breaks fail their tests, the browser break
without a pick list fails 57b-57d

Give a list one struct type so every item keeps its shape (#254)
A list of structs used to let every item carry its own fields. Adding an item meant typing the same fields again, and nothing kept the items in step with the struct asset from #253. A list can now name a struct type for its items, and the asset keeps them in shape. - A list variable and a list field get the row Items with Mixed, every struct asset and Make struct type. Make struct type collects every field any item has, so no item loses a field. - A typed item carries its type under the key `$struct` (ITEM_TYPE_KEY). listItems does not count it as a field. - A list that holds anything but structs refuses a type, also when the offending item sits in an override. The console names the list and the count, and the list stays as it was. - In a typed list `+ Item` adds an item with the defaults, without the kind menu. Field names are locked, values stay editable. - The rows of a typed item take their kind from the struct asset (declaredKind in InlineList.ts). An asset field shows the asset picker instead of a text field, as reported in the issue. - A struct item in a mixed list gets its own Type row. Switching a list back to Mixed keeps the type on each item. - syncStructTypes brings marked items into shape and carries renames into them, also inside overrides and nested lists. One undo step. - The delete dialog of a struct asset also counts typed lists. - The game never sees the key. World and sharedState strip it with withoutItemTypes and bagWithoutItemTypes, so a struct stays a plain object at runtime. - Add item and Set item get the setting Type. With a type they only accept a struct with exactly its field names (fitsType in SetItem.ts). Anything else is left out and logged. - The item indent from #252 is back to its old width, the narrow one squeezed the value fields. Not done: writing a variable does not check the type, and the List node offers no type. Found on the way: a test helper in list-of-structs.test.ts called nodes without params. It now passes the same arguments as the interpreter. Tests: - ./check.sh: 183 files, 2679 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 - e2e GM_STEPS=1,21,22,32,54,55: ALL PASSED, 150 checks - e2e GM_STEPS=1-6,21,22,32,54,55 before the follow-up: 404 checks - New: tests/core/typed-lists.test.ts, e2e module 55 with 13 checks - Counter-checks bite in unit and browser, originals restored by cmp Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Show lists in the inspector and variables in their own tab (#252)
The List tab could show one list at a time and was the only place to see its items. A list now shows its items right where it lives, and a new Variables tab shows all variables of an asset or placed object. - InlineList draws the items of a list under its row in the inspector, in struct fields and in the Variables tab. A list inside a list or a struct field is drawn the same way, one step indented. - The index column is the indent. Items sit under their list without an own margin, and the index column is 16 px wide instead of 28 px. - Above 20 items (INLINE_LIMIT) the rest collapses into "... N more - open in tab". During a run the rows show the values from the game. - ListHead puts "N items" and "+ Item" in one row. "N items" opens the list in a tab. A separate Open button squeezed the counter to zero width in the narrow inspector column. - VariablesEditor shows every variable of a behavior asset, a variables asset or a placed behavior. On an asset it edits the declarations. On a placed object an edit only overrides that object, with the usual reset and push buttons. - Opening a list inside a tab adds a new tab and keeps the open one. valuesKey gives each list its own document, so a list that is already open is shown instead of opened twice. - Titles read "Pickup · Variables" or "Listy · nums · [3]". The tab closes when its asset or object is deleted. - Lists on node inputs stay inline only, a node owns no variables. - The List tab, ListEditor and the __gm.list hook are gone. Tests: - ./check.sh: 181 files, 2645 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 - GM_STEPS=1,21,22,32: ALL PASSED, 123 checks - e2e 21 is rewritten for inline lists and the new tab, 22 and 32 are adapted. Sum in README: 1486 (+6 in 21, -1 in 22), counted by hand. - Counter-probes fail as expected: sub-lists not told apart (1 unit test), sub-list replacing the open tab, all items drawn inline (60 rows instead of 20), no live values (0 rows at 24 items in a run). Let structs and lists nest to any depth (#239)
Structs and lists were capped at two fixed levels (list of structs, struct with a list field). Anything deeper was dropped silently on load, in node settings and when written to a variable. The cap came from an early design choice, not from a technical need, so it is lifted completely instead of adding a third fixed level. - One kind list NESTED_KINDS replaces ListItemKind and StructFieldKind. The flat special cases in listItems.ts are gone, every value goes through one recursive path. - A struct inside a struct is declared, like a top-level struct. Values coming in over an edge are brought into that shape. Struct items in lists still take their fields from the value. - New valuePath.ts addresses any nested spot by keys and indices. ListSlot.field is now ListSlot.path. - Field commands (add, rename, remove) take the path to the struct. They change declaration, own value and all overrides in one undo step, as before on the top level. - Inspector: "+ Field" offers Struct and List on every level. A nested struct is a header row with its own "+ Field", its fields are indented one step further. - List tab: a list item shows "n items" and opens one level deeper. The title shows the path, e.g. "Listy · nums · [3]". - Pack in Pack now writes a struct into a struct field instead of text. Objects are kept at any depth and stripped at every exit. - A list edit in a struct field without an existing object override now starts from the shown value instead of an empty struct. - Old projects load unchanged. Save, load and save again gives the same result. Tests: - ./check.sh: 172 files, 2498 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 - e2e 21 + 22: ALL PASSED, 90 checks (new 21d-iii, 22f-ii, 21d and 22f updated) - 20 new unit tests in nested-values.test.ts and nested-list-slot.test.ts, three tests that pinned the old cap turned around - 6 counter-probes, each fails 1 to 8 tests, originals restored and checked with cmp - Not covered: a nested struct inside a struct item in the list tab has no e2e click Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Let a variable hold an object across behavior runs
A spawned object was only reachable in the run that spawned it. The Spawn output could not go into a variable because "object" was a port-only kind, so the next run had no way back to the instance. - "Object" is now a variable kind. The reference lives for the run only. The file stores the declaration and an empty value. - The live reference sits in slots beside the variable bag (graph/objectSlots.ts), not in it. The bag is the behavior's props, and syncToModel would have written an object into the scene. - A destroyed object, or one from a restarted or left scene, reads as nothing. A dead reference is dropped from its slot. - Keep (#229) hands the slots of kept variables on to the next call of a sub-behavior. - Properties of kind Behavior reads and writes another behavior's object variable through the same slots. - The inspector shows "(null)" for it and offers no input. - A persistent Variables asset with an object variable shows a warning under "Persistent". Saved values never keep the object, every run starts it at (null). Objects inside lists and struct fields are left out on purpose. Emptiness is checked with Equals against an empty b. A node "Is valid" does not exist yet. The test helper graphEditor().variables() now also reads the kinds of a Variables asset a node points to. Tests: - ./check.sh: 169 files, 2463 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 - e2e 6 + 23: ALL PASSED, 146 checks (new 23k, 2 checks) - e2e 32: ALL PASSED, 18 checks (new 32f-ii) - 10 unit tests in tests/core/object-variable.test.ts, one of them runs a persistent asset over two runs - 5 counter-probes (value in bag, isAlive always true, no Keep hand-over, Properties without slots, object in saved values) each fail their test - e2e check total 1406, computed only Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Stop a key getting stuck when Shift changes it while held (#227)
Input remembered keys under KeyboardEvent.key. Pressing a, adding Shift and letting go sent "A" on release, which matched nothing, so "a" stayed down until the next release without Shift. - New rule keyName in src/core/keys.ts lowercases a single character. So a and A are the same key, also under Caps Lock. - Input remembers per physical key (e.code) under which name it went down and releases exactly that name. So 1 released as ! is freed too, which lowercasing alone does not cover. - On key down, up and held, Key is down and Axis input compare with the same rule. A node that already stores A reacts to a. - Recording a key in the inspector stores Shift+A as a. - Limit: holding Shift before pressing 1 still sends !, and a node on 1 does not react. Nothing gets stuck by it. Tests: - 3 new unit tests in tests/core/behavior-events.test.ts: the flow from the issue, 1 released as !, and a node on A hearing a. - Without lowercasing exactly the issue test and the A test fail. - Without the code memory exactly the 1/! test fails. - ./check.sh: 159 files, 2340 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (before 2337). - No e2e change, the check sum stays at 1377. Let behaviors read and set tilemap cells while the game runs (#135)
A behavior could move sprites around but had no way to look at or
change the tilemap it was standing on. Doors, breakable blocks and
"is there ground ahead?" checks all need that.
- New nodes Tile at, Set tile, World to cell and Cell to world. The
conversion honours position, rotation, scale and mirroring of the
placed map. A small Tile literal node lets a graph compare what it
read against a fixed tile.
- The layer is picked by name from all tilemap layers in the project
through a new field kind. "First layer" takes the map's first one.
Because layer is an input, a text can also be wired in.
- Each placement keeps only its edited cells in liveTilemap.ts,
layered over the asset's cells. A second placement of the same map
stays untouched, and the asset itself is never written.
- A read sees a Set tile from earlier in the same flow. Drawing picks
up the edit at once and neighbouring autotile edges adapt.
- Solids see the edits straight away, so a Move in the same frame
already hits the new cell. Rapier rebuilds its shapes on the next
step.
- After Stop the map is back to what was painted. The editor run shows
the edit in the scene view while it lasts and does not touch the
project.
- An unwired tilemap input means no map, like Get position. Cells
outside the grid are refused and done reports false.
Tests:
- ./check.sh: 155 files, 2271 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (before 2245).

- e2e 39,40: all passed, 86 checks (before 81), five new in 40s.
- Counter-checks: collision ignoring edits fails 3 unit tests, the
solids cache missing same-tick edits fails only the "at once" test,
drawing ignoring edits fails the 2 drawing checks, the editor run
not reporting a new tile fails only its check.

Ping an asset from its inspector link instead of selecting it (#221)
A single click on an asset link used to select the asset. That swapped
the inspector over to the asset, so the object being edited was gone
and the second click of a double-click landed on a different row. A
click now pings the asset in the asset panel, like Unity does in its
Project window, and a double-click opens it.
- state.pingAsset(id) emits a new `ping` event. It runs no command and
leaves the selection alone, like openAsset.
- ListView.ping(id) draws an accent overlay on the row. It stays full
for 200 ms and is gone after 1 s, driven by onFrame. destroy cancels
the animation.
- The asset panel expands the group, scrolls to the row and pings it.
- The capture listener and followedLink in the inspector are gone.
The inspector is no longer rebuilt, so pressCount on the label is
enough. followsPress and pressOf are no longer exported from ui/.
- The "Asset" and "Part of" rows of a scene object were a ghost button
that selected the asset. They are now a link label with the same
ping and open behaviour, next to a read-only field with the name.
- The link logic lives in linkLabel() in fieldFactory.ts. createFieldRow
and the asset row share it.
- TextField gets a readOnly option: no focus, no caret, no hover.
- New hook __gm.assetPing(). inspectorLink also reports the field
next to the label (value, readOnly).
Findings:
- Renaming an asset while its object was selected left the old name
in the inspector. This was already the case with the old button.
The refresh now updates the name.
Tests:

New: tests/ui/list-ping.test.ts for pingAlpha and pingAsset.

28l-ii has 9 checks instead of 5.

Open a sprite's texture or shader from the menus and inspector (#221)
A sprite's texture and shader were only reachable by hunting for them
in the asset panel. Every place that shows such a reference now leads
straight to it.
- Object menu (hierarchy and scene view): "Open texture" and "Open
shader" sit right below "Open asset" when the sprite has one. The
object's own values count, so an overridden shader opens the
override.
- Asset context menu: the same entries at the top.
- Inspector: every asset field with a value shows its label as a blue,
underlined link. One click selects the asset, a double click opens
it. An override stays gold and gets the underline too.
- The first click rebuilds the inspector, so the second one lands on a
different row. The inspector catches that second click before any
row sees it.
- New pure rule `references.ts`: the asset behind a reference field. A
frame leads to its sheet. Kinds without a tab (palette, font, sound)
get no menu entry.
- `followsPress` in `clicks.ts` keeps the double-click window and
tolerance in one place.
- `activateAsset` in `actions.ts`: opening means the same everywhere
as a double click in the asset panel, so a scene also becomes the
active one. The asset panel uses it too.
Tests:
- ./check.sh: 150 files, 2226 tests, CHECK EXIT 0 (before 148/2214).
- 12 new unit tests: 6 for the reference rule, 4 for the link in

Load the 500 weight and draw missing glyphs as SVG icons (#214)
The theme asks for Source Sans 3 at weight 500, but fonts.ts only
loaded 400, 600 and 700. The browser synthesised the 500 text. The
issue comment also asked for the symbols the font lacks to become SVG
icons. A scan of src/ against the font's cmap found 20 such characters
in 30 places.
- fonts.ts loads source-sans-3-latin-500-normal.woff2 as well.
- Menus draw their ticks and the "current" dot as icons. The dot is a
new MenuItem.current field and no longer part of the label text.
- Inspector action buttons (reset, apply, fit width/height) are
icons. The menu arrow behind them is the drawn Dropdown chevron.
- Kind marks come from a table in markIcons.ts. Picture kinds use an
icon, # and Aa stay text because the font has them.
- Scene marks in the asset panel, sound play/stop and the transition
arrows are icons too.
- Apply is an icon although the font has the arrow. It sits next to
the reset icon and would look different as a glyph.
- A new Icon widget draws on redraw like Button, so Node tests need no
DOMParser.
- Tests find icons through the SVG id. The new hook
__gm.locateIcons(id) and the harness helpers findIcon/clickIcon
replace locate() on the old characters.
Findings:
- Weight 700 is loaded but the theme never uses it. Left as is.
- The old scene-mark check in module 35 accepted any play glyph on
screen. It now checks the mark on the start scene's row.
- Module 44 needs the textures from module 37 and fails without it.
Tests:
- ./check.sh: 145 files, 2187 tests, exit 0 (before 144 / 2143).
- New tests/ui/fonts.test.ts: every theme weight is loaded, and every
character in src/ exists in every shipped face. The cmap reader
matches fontTools (231 characters).
- Icon tests cover the 19 new files. Each kind mark is either an
icon or text, never both.
- e2e 1-16,22,30,34,35,43,44: 586 green, 0 FAIL, then 44 stopped
for lack of module 37. e2e 1-16,37,44,47,48: 618 green.
e2e 1-14 on the final build: 454 green.
- Two new e2e checks: loaded weights in 14, a reset icon pixel in 04.
- Counter-probes all fail as expected: 500 removed, a play glyph put
back, the struct icon removed (one unit test each). In the browser,
500 removed and reset icon hidden fail exactly the two new checks.

Vector shapes can fill with gradients and textures (#186)
A vector shape could only be filled and outlined with one flat colour. Shading, glows and patterned surfaces had to be faked with stacks of shapes. Every shape now has a paint type for its fill and its outline. - Fill type: solid colour, linear gradient, radial gradient or texture. Line type offers the same without texture. - Colour stops are edited on a bar in the inspector, as agreed in the issue. A click on the bar adds a stop in the colour the gradient already has there, so adding never changes the picture. At least two stops remain. - The new Paint tool in the tab shows two handles for the selected shape: axis start and end, centre and radius, or the corners of one texture tile. "Handles: Fill / Outline" picks which paint is edited. - Moving a whole shape moves its gradients and tile with it. Every gesture is one undo step. - A texture fill always tiles, because Pixi turns a non-repeating pattern into a repeating one anyway. When switched on, one tile covers the whole shape. - Only uploaded textures and frames can be a fill, never a drawing. A drawing filled with itself would rasterise itself mid-raster. - The fingerprint of a drawing includes the texture and frame a fill points to, so the picture redraws when the image is swapped. Findings: - graphics.destroy(true) also destroyed the textures of the fills. With a texture fill it deleted the tile slice and the next redraw crashed on reading 'scaleMode' of null. It is now destroy(). - The gradient cache destroyed old gradients itself, which gave 20 Pixi warnings "destroyed while still bound". They are now handed to Pixi's texture GC with autoGarbageCollect switched on. The console of module 47 is empty again, the last CI log had 0 of them. Tests: - ./check.sh: 135 files, 2011 tests, exit 0 (before 134 / 1986) - npm run build: exit 0 - GM_STEPS=47, freshly seeded: ALL PASSED, 54 checks (before 44), 0 console warnings - 25 new unit tests, 10 new e2e checks in block 47i - Four counter-checks bite, originals restored and verified with cmp - Check sum 1232 in README and wiki, calculated (1222 + 10) Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Collision layers and masks: a collider carries a layer and a mask of the layers it meets, and the pair only meets when both masks name the other's layer - the rule is one pure module (src/core/model/collisionLayers.ts) with layerBit, layersMeet and the names a project starts with, so the three places that have to agree read the same function: the editor run through CollisionSystem, the Solids sweep per pair and Rapier, where the mask becomes the collider's interaction groups; the project file gained collisionLayers: ["Default"] (default one layer, no formatVersion bump), the collider schema two new kinds - layer as a dropdown of the project's layers and layerMask as a menu of tickboxes that stays open while it is ticked (Menu.ts learned rows that do not close on a pick) - and the names are edited through "Collision layers..." in the toolbar's Project menu, not a Project tab, which is the decision I made myself because the question ran into the MCP timeout: the dialog (src/editor/CollisionLayersDialog.ts) holds up to 16 names, Add layer appends "Layer <n>" and Apply writes all of them as one undo step (SetCollisionLayersCommand); a mask read from a file goes through a check that refuses anything that is not a finite number, because Number(null) is 0 and a collidesWith: null would silently have meant "meets nothing"; 9 new e2e checks in module 8 cover the menu entry, the dialog, Add layer, Apply and its undo, both inspector rows, the tickbox menu, and the mover walking straight through the crate that 8c blocked on once their layers no longer meet, and 21 new unit tests cover the rule, the schema and the command (#152)

A game that is more than one scene needs a way from one to the next, so the graph can load one (#39)
game-maker / suite (push) Failing after 11m6s
Load scene sets a flag on the World like Stop and Restart do; the swap happens after the tick, and the last wish of a tick wins. Exactly one thing crosses over: the SharedState, so global variables and global machines keep what they know while everything local is built anew. Loading the scene that is already running rebuilds it, which is what "reset the level" means when the score must survive. A run starts either from the start scene (a new project field, set from the asset panel and marked with an arrow in the list) or from whatever scene is open. The toggle next to Play says which question is asked and remembers the answer in localStorage: it is a way of working, not part of the game. Sounds no longer end because a scene ends. A voice belongs to the behavior that started it and stops right after On destroy, so the scene swap is no longer a special case at all. For the enemy that plays its explosion and destroys itself in the same breath there is now a detached input on Play sound. The scene selector stays usable while a run plays, because a double click in the asset panel already did the same thing unguarded. It moves what the editor looks at, not what the run plays. |

A game that stays silent is only half a game, so a sound is an asset like any other (#45)
game-maker / suite (push) Successful in 12m1s
Sounds follow the road fonts already paved: the file goes to the server content-addressed under its sha256, the project keeps a named asset that points at it, and nothing is ever re-encoded. The format is read from the file's own signature, not from what the browser claims - the same .m4a arrives as audio/mp4, audio/x-m4a or as nothing at all. Playing is two nodes. "Play sound" takes the asset and may raise or lower its volume; every call is its own voice, so two jumps in a row are two jumps heard. Its loop input is a choice of three - from the asset, on, off - because a checkbox has to spend one of its two positions on "not set" and would lose a case: an asset that loops could then never be played once. Below the graph core stays browser-free: NodeContext hands out an asset id, BehaviorSystem resolves it against the project and folds the asset's own volume and loop into the call, and only viewport/SoundLibrary knows about Web Audio. A run without a sink plays nothing instead of throwing. The CI browser is muted, so the ear is no witness: the debug hook counts started and stopped voices, and step 34 reads that counter. |

State machines: asset, tab, State branch and Set state nodes (#51)
A state machine is an asset whose graph holds one `State` node per state (no ports, name as title), edited in a new "State machine" tab that reuses the graph canvas: right-click places "State n", snap toggle shared with the Behavior tab via SnapToggle. `statemachine` is a value kind like texture (port, literal node, variable, struct field, tagged list item). Behaviors use it through `State branch` (one exec output per state) and `Set state` (one exec input per state; the interpreter now hands `run` the entry port). States live per behavior instance in NodeContext.states, with no initial state. Ports derive from the inline picker or a wired `State machine` literal; BehaviorLookup became GraphLookup with behavior(id) and machine(id). The Graph tab is labelled "Behavior" (key unchanged). Describe every value kind in one table instead of spreading it over the code
A kind like colour or texture used to be spelled out in five parallel lists, its port type, its empty value, its glyph, its label and its list tag - 22 literal places for texture alone. core/properties/kinds.ts now holds one row per kind and the rest is derived from it, so adding a kind is one row. Make texture and colour full kinds and drop the load-time migrations
- `Texture` and `Color` can be picked as a variable kind, a struct field kind and a declared port kind; a new `Texture` node hands a picture id into the graph. Declared, a texture is its bare id – the `$texture` tag stays a list-only thing. - The `String` node is labelled "Text" like its kind; the type id stays. - Whole-number inputs (`Item at`, `Set item`, `Sub list`, `Fill`, `Repeat`, `Substring`, `To text`) show no decimals (`int()` in shared.ts). - All server projects are reseeded, so `legacyNodes.ts`, `migrateDeclaredLists` and the `ownerId` fallback go, with their tests. - Note `reseed-because-of-list` moved to done/; new note `refactor-types`. Drop the per-list item declaration; every item carries its own kind
A list no longer says what its items are. ListDef.items, ListDef.fields,
ListFieldDef.items and SetListItemsCommand are gone; the single seam is
src/core/properties/listItems.ts. JSON already tells number, text, boolean
and struct apart, so only two kinds need a tag: {"$color": n} and the new
{"$texture": id}. Field names cannot start with "$", so a tag never
collides with a struct field. On a data link a texture item arrives as
its bare id; the graph has no images.
List tab: the mark in front of each row is the kind picker, "+ Item"
asks for the kind, both are ordinary value edits (one undo step). A list
inside a struct field only offers the flat kinds because the depth rule
forbids a struct item there (ListAccess.kinds); the menu used to offer
it and silently do nothing.
Legacy lists that declared items: 'color' are tagged on load.
Actor demo: the four walk animations and four standing frames live in
two list variables of texture items indexed by facing (Item at), so the
graph can be rebuilt in the editor. The stand frames get their grid ids
back; 44 nodes instead of 46.

Replace the property nodes with one Properties node
Get/Set property, Get/Set properties, Set enabled and Set text are gone. A single Properties node takes a fixed "object" input; every chosen property is an output that reads the current value, and one switched to Set is also an input written when the flow arrives. Exec pins only exist while at least one entry writes. The node carries a type (Sprite, Text, Collider, Camera, Container, Behavior, Any) that decides what "+ Property" offers: the fields of that type, the variables of the chosen behavior, or for Any a kind to pick and a name to type. Each port takes the default and field of its type, so a Camera width starts at 640. Switching the type keeps the ports and marks those the new type lacks. At runtime the type is only an editor aid; the node writes to whatever object it gets. Old project files are converted on load. The type is inferred from the keys: the first object type that has them all, else the one behavior that declares them all, else Any. enabled belongs to every object, so a converted Set enabled lands on Any. The jump-run and tetris seeders use Properties throughout; draw-piece switches its cell on in the same node that sets the colour. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Add Get/Set properties nodes and a breadcrumb for opened sub-behaviors
Get properties / Set properties work like their variable counterparts:
one port per chosen property, an unconnected input writes its inline
value. A port chosen from the built-in list keeps that property's field
and default (height starts at 100, color is a colour field). "object" is
reserved for the fixed input, checked by the command and on load.
The property picker names the owning type ("Sprite width"), and text
fields can now carry a suggestion list; Get/Set property use it.
Double-clicking a call node shows the path of opened behaviors under the
graph header. Clicking an entry jumps back and trims the path; choosing
a behavior any other way hides it. Reopening a behavior already on the
path steps back to it instead of repeating it. The bar shows before the
graph switches, otherwise it clips the graph that was just fitted.
The "Add node..." header button is gone; nodes come from the context menu.

Consolidate duplicated editor code, trim comments, refresh README
Split GraphCanvas (1076 -> 831 lines) into EdgeLayer and graphMenus; the port and marker menus were the same list and are now one function. Value specs of the inspector and the list tab share valueSpecs.ts, and the remaining copies (compound commands, type glyphs, typed asset lookup, name rule, play/editor world setup, marquee) are merged. Four copies had already drifted apart; merging them fixes: - "Disconnect N links" in the port menu is one undo step, not N - "+ Add collider" is hidden on a placed container instance, as in the hierarchy menu, instead of always failing - a bool property coerced from the text "false" becomes false - a port command on an unknown node type reports instead of crashing Comment-only edits leave the bundle byte-identical. Give every behavior variable one row shape on asset and instance
buildStructBlock only covered structs, so a placed instance drew numbers,
text, bools and lists through createFieldRow on a 64 px name column while
its struct block sat on the asset's grid below it. variableRows.ts now
builds the row for every variable kind on both sides; the edit option
decides what the owner may change (asset: rename, x, item kind; instance:
revert and push). Label and Button take a fixed width so the mark column
no longer shifts names when a list shows its item-kind picker.

Show a placed object's struct the way its asset does
The instance inspector drew its own, flatter version of a struct: one row per field, no bundle head. It now draws the same block as the asset side, because there is only one implementation left - both call buildStructBlock. What the instance does not get is everything that touches the shape: renaming a field, '+ Field', and the per-field '×'. The shape belongs to the asset; a placed object overrides values. The revert and override marks sit on the head rather than on a field, since an override covers the whole bundle at once. Underneath this, editing a single field of an unoverridden struct used to blank its siblings: structFieldsOf filled the untouched fields from spec.read, which is object.overrides[key] and therefore undefined until something is overridden. structOf then handed back the empty shape. PreviewedValue carries 'current' now - the resolved value the row actually shows - and the fields come from that. Without it the old path stays, which is right for the asset side, whose prop bag is dense. |

Finish the struct and list leftovers: inline lists, list fields, item kinds
An unconnected list input is a button into the List tab instead of a number field; a struct field can hold a list, so ListSlot carries an optional field name and the three owner cases only say what sits at a key; and a list variable picks its item kind in the inspector (marker doubles as the chooser), so a list of structs no longer has to be born from a project file. The declaration keeps the storable shapes finite: a struct field may be a list, but that list holds primitives only, so list->struct->primitive and struct->list->primitive are the two deepest forms. check 674, e2e 483, jump-run 24, Tetris 19. Let a list hold structs, and read or write variables in bundles
A list item may now be a struct. The depth is bounded in the declaration
rather than by a comment: FieldKind (number|text|boolean|color) says what a
struct field holds, ListItemKind adds struct on top and says what a list
holds, so list -> struct -> primitive is the deepest storable shape and
sameValue stays finite. A struct item renders inline in the List tab, which
is why it needs no path in the slot address.
Four paths silently assumed a list item was a primitive: sameValue compared
items with ===, textOf would have printed [object Object], asListItem turned
a struct into text on Set item and Fill, and Index of used indexOf, which is
reference equality and could never have found a struct.
Tetris now runs on bundles. shapes is 112 {x, y} structs instead of 224 loose
numbers, piece and the candidate are structs, so Next move hands back a whole
candidate and each strand packs only the field it changes, since mergeStruct
leaves the rest standing. Declared behavior ports drop 49 -> 35, the master's
variables 18 -> 13, its graph 84/94 -> 69/76 nodes/edges.
Get variables and Set variables declare their ports from a list of variable
names, the way Pack and Expand already do, so one node can read or write
several at once. Renaming a variable rewires them, because there the port key
is the variable name.

The value type was already there: StructValue, textOf, sameValue, writeTyped/mergeStruct and the struct port type came with the first part, and Get/Set variable carry any-ports, so a bundle already flowed through the graph unchanged. What was missing was the declaration. PropertyDef gains kind 'struct' with a list of fields, VARIABLE_KINDS a fifth kind, variableDef a fifth parameter. A declared field is a primitive - a list field would need a nested editor and therefore the path in the slot address, the same step "a list of structs" is waiting for. coerceValue now returns PropertyValue rather than FieldValue, the first value type that is not a field; none of its five callers break. In the inspector a struct variable is a block, not a tab. The list tab exists because hundreds of rows fit in no inspector row; a struct is the opposite case - few fields that fit under each other. It is the port editor Pack already has, one level down and with a value column: type, key and default value in one place. A placed object sees the same fields as plain value rows: overriding yes, declaring no. Adding or removing a field touches the declaration, the default, the behavior's value and every instance override in one command, so a stored value can never keep a shape its declaration no longer promises. The row handlers read the bundle at the moment of the change rather than closing over a snapshot - a field writes the whole bundle, so with a snapshot the second edited row revives the first one's old value. defSignature carries the fields, otherwise a new row appears only at the next rebuild. Fixes a fixture fault this uncovered: step 10 pushed its text object into the scene without instanceEdits, which overrideSites walks with Object.entries. AddStructFieldCommand is the first caller to reach it from that state; the step was green alone and failed three checks in the full suite. Moves the dynamic-ports note to done - all three of its parts are built. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Lay out a scroll container's content when the content changes
A short list opened after a long one drew all its rows stacked on one point. The fault was not in the list tab: rebuild() handed the row stack to setContent() while it was still empty, so the content was sized to max(rows, viewport) = the viewport. The rows arrived after that, and for a short list the same formula yields the same height, so resize() saw no change and skipped layout(). A long list changes the height and never showed it. relayoutContent() now runs whenever the content changed, rather than leaning on resize()'s change detection - that detection is the wrong instrument for "the children moved". The list tab was the only affected caller: the panels use ListView, which positions its rows itself, and the inspector fills its body before setContent. Also drops the comma line under the list. Every section that can carry a list supplies openList, so the comma fallback in fieldFactory was unreachable; listToText/listFromText go with it. The list-value test now covers coerceListItem through coerceValue instead, so the boolean spelling stays guarded. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Give a list its own tab instead of a comma line
A list property in the inspector was a single text field holding a comma
separated line -- unreadable past a handful of items, and it could not
carry anything but text. It becomes a button ("3 items") that opens a
sixth centre tab, where every item is a row built by the very widget the
inspector would build for that item kind.
The renderer was free: a PropertyDef of kind 'list' already carries
`items`, so item i becomes a synthetic def of that kind -- number, text,
boolean and colour rows appear without a new branch.
The way into the tab goes through the state (EditorState.listSlot,
openList(), event 'list'), like every other tab switch here; a tab may
not call showTab itself. ListSlot lives next to Selection rather than in
the tab folder, or state.ts would have to import upwards.
A row's handlers must not close over a snapshot of the list: they outlive
a commit, since the tab only rebuilds when the length changes, and the
second edited row would otherwise revive the value the first replaced.
showTab switched five `visible` lines by hand, where a sixth tab is
silently forgotten; it is a Record<CentreTab, Widget> now.

Let a value be a bundle of named fields
PropertyValue was number | string | boolean | list. A struct joins it, which costs two things the typechecker found rather than I did. An object on a data edge used to mean a live entity, so asEntity would have taken a struct for one and asString would have read .name off it. EntityHandle now carries a symbol brand – a symbol so no field name can impersonate it, and it never serializes, which suits a thing that exists only while the game runs. It is built in exactly one place. String(value) would have written a struct as [object Object] at 39 call sites. They go through textOf(), which is identical for primitives. normalizeGraph dropped everything but primitives from node params, so the List node lost its value on every save ([3,1,4] round-tripped to undefined). Variables were spared: they have a schema, params have none. |

Let a variable hold a list
A variable could only be a number, a text or a yes/no, so every set of values had to be smuggled through a string - which is where Tetris got its unreadable "03066326048763714" colours from. A list is now a value of its own, with an item kind (number, text, yes/no, colour) that decides how the inspector reads the one comma-separated line it is typed as, and eight nodes to work with: List, Fill, Count, Item at, Set item, Sub list, Join lists, Index of. Two traps came with it. An array is typeof 'object', so every place that told a value from an entity had to learn the difference, or a list would have been passed around as a game object. And a value was compared by identity in three places - with lists that marks everything as an overridden property after each reload, so those comparisons now compare contents. There is no list of objects: a list is written to the project file and an object is a live handle that no reload survives. A set of objects stays a list of names. Mark overrides in gold instead of bold, and up the hierarchy
An inspector label whose value deviates from its base was drawn bold, which is easy to miss next to the regular labels and says nothing in the hierarchy, where a folded subtree could hide a change entirely. The colour now lives as a theme token (`override`, #f2c84b) used by both the inspector labels and the hierarchy rows. Whether a row deviates is decided by `src/core/properties/deviation.ts`: `objectDeviates` compares an object against what it follows -- the container template for content, the asset otherwise -- and `deviationMarks` carries the mark up to every ancestor, so a folded subtree still shows that something inside was changed. `deviationMarks` takes the stored holder, not the resolved one: in the resolved view container content looks like an ordinary object and `instanceTargetOf` would compare against the asset, marking every instance. Covered by 3 unit tests and 5 e2e checks, including one that strips an object's own overrides to prove the row stays gold for a deviating child and restores them byte for byte. Full suite remote on the RTX 4070: 275 checks, all passed. |

Add pixel-size fit and drag-to-reorder in the hierarchy
The aspect button now carries two offers, so it becomes a menu: fit one side to the texture ratio, or set both sides to the exact pixel size as a single undo step. Dropping a row on the outer quarter of another row inserts it into that gap instead of parenting into it, reordering among the siblings there. Order is the stored order, so ReorderObjectCommand is a splice; equal z falls back to tree order, which makes this the way to draw one object in front of another. Rejected on container content like the other structural edits. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Fit sprite size to the texture aspect ratio
Add ↔ next to Width and ↕ next to Height in the inspector. Each sets its field so the sprite matches the ratio of its assigned texture or frame, reading the frame's own rect rather than the sheet's. The buttons reuse the existing FieldActions convention, so they simply do not appear when no texture is assigned, when the sprite is already proportional, or on assets whose schema has no texture property. Comparison is a cross product with a relative tolerance: 3135 of the 40000 size pairs up to 200x200 do not survive a round trip through a division, so an exact check would leave the button standing after its own click. Trim needless comments and fix the picker width
Remove comments that only restate the code, keeping the section banners and the notes that carry a reason, a measured fact or an external contract. ButtonOptions.width claimed to be a fixed width but only set minWidth, so the Graph and Texture pickers grew with the name they showed. It is now what it promises, with a separate minWidth for the buttons that have two forms. Narrow buttons shrink their padding, otherwise a 24px icon button had 8px left for its glyph and truncate dropped it entirely. __gm.labelsDropped() guards that class: the overflow guard only saw text that was too wide, never a label truncated to nothing. Add a decimals option, fix dropdown overflow and the texture filter
- NumberField takes a decimals option (default 3); frame rects and the slice dialog use 0, matching their integer model. - Button truncates its label to the drawn width; Dropdown reserves the chevron slot. NodeView reuses the shared truncate(). - Setting scaleMode leaves the style's shared resource id in place, so the old GPU sampler stayed in use until a reload. Call style.update(). - Graph gets a header bar like the Texture tab: GraphEditor is now the frame, the former editor is GraphCanvas. A selection the tab does not concern no longer unloads the behavior. - New e2e step 14 guards text overflow across all widgets. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

Add a Texture tab for defining frames
A new Texture tab next to Scene/Game/Graph shows a texture sheet and lets frames be drawn on it: drag to create, move, resize via eight handles, edit name and rect in the inspector, Delete to remove. Every change is a command, so one gesture is one undo step. "Slice..." cuts a grid from columns and rows with optional offset and spacing, previewing the resulting frame count and cell size live. Sprites pick a frame instead of the whole texture through the same `texture` property: it now holds either a texture id or a frame id. Frame ids come from the same generator and are document-wide unique, so one picker, one property and one set of instance overrides cover both cases, and every sprite written before this still means the same thing. A Graphics fill ignores a Pixi sub-texture's frame and draws the whole image, because it derives its uvs from the shape bounds and the inverted style matrix. The cutout is therefore a matrix (`viewport/textureFill.ts`), which keeps a sheet at a single GPU upload no matter how many of its frames are on screen at once. Add textures for sprites
Images are uploaded to a content-addressed blob endpoint and stored as data/textures/<sha256>.<ext>; the project only keeps the file name. The sprite points at a texture asset through an ordinary property of the new kind `asset`, so instance overrides, "Apply to container", "Reset to asset", undo and `Set property` work without any extra code. The new kind also replaces the ad-hoc asset picker the graph nodes faked as an enum. Import goes through + -> Texture, drag & drop onto the canvas or Ctrl+V. Images wider than 2048px are downscaled client-side and re-encoded to WebP if needed, because nginx caps uploads at 1MB; an image that already fits is uploaded byte for byte so pixel art is never resampled. The sprite colour default changes from red to white, since colour tints the texture multiplicatively and a tint of white shows an image as it is. Left-align menu entries, add a Dropdown field, scrollable and searchable menus
Menu entries are left-aligned and live in a ScrollContainer capped at 320 px, so a
long list (the parent picker holds every object of the scene) scrolls instead of
running off the screen. `Menu(items, { searchable: true })` puts a filter box above
the scroll area; Enter takes the first match. Filtering forces a relayout because
two queries with the same hit count leave the height unchanged, which would keep
the stale row positions.
Fields that open a menu are a new `Dropdown` widget: the value sits flush left and
the chevron is drawn flush right instead of being written into the label. A menu
opened below a field is never narrower than that field.
New debug hooks `overlayTexts()` / `overlayRect()` make the popup contents
assertable; e2e step 11 covers the cap, the scrolling and the search box.
